The feeling of something new

The way it feels surreal

The feel of heartbeat

Other than your own

It was all new to him

But he wants to believe

He wants to live.

That's how Liam felt when the Doctor told him that he's having a baby. As an Omega, Liam never liked his life too much. For the most part of it at least. But even when he disliked who he was in the past, there was something which he felt excited about.

Having a baby.

To be able to feel someone else's heartbeat mixed with his own, he always looked forward to it. He wanted to feel the euphoria of having a life inside oneself. To be able to carry a little angel and be able to show them the world, he dreamt of it all.

For him, to hold little hands and walk with a proud smile on his face. To accept his kid, to give them their best life and watch them grow, to see their happiness and be with them in their sorrow. Everything was a dream. As an Omega in this life, that was his only hope.

But he knew for sure that he won't ever be able to see this day. For the hate he had for alphas throughout his life, he never thought that there will be a day when he will have a baby. Always despised Alphas and never wanted to be in the same room as them.

Their filthy stares, their watering mouth when they see Omegas, their dominant stance and their thinking that they own every Omega in this world, Liam hated everything about Alphas. Until someone came and changed that!

Him.

The moment he realises that he is going to think about him again, the doctor speaks up again.

"Liam, are you listening to what I am saying?"

"I'm sorry doctor, can you repeat it once again?"

The Doctor gave him a concerned look and then said it again. "Your body is not that strong, Liam. Are you eating properly? It seems like you are not taking proper care of yourself."

"Is there any problem with the baby, Doctor? Is my baby alright? Is-"

"Liam, calm down… You are at the start of your pregnancy and everything is fine so far. No need to worry about anything! But you need to take good care of yourself if you want the baby to be healthy when it's born. It seems to me that you are not eating well, are you?"

Liam nods at that. He doesn't have to say anything. There is nothing to say actually. How to tell the person that he was considering living his life, even a few hours before?! He doesn't want to scare the Doctor away. Instead he says, "I'll take good care of myself from now on…" He smiles when he sees that there is a small smile of relief on the other's face when he says that.

"That will be great Liam! One more thing before you leave. You'll have to come for a regular check up on time, okay? And the next time you come, it will be better if you are with your partner.

Liam's smile disappears as soon as he hears that.

And as if judging Liam's expressions, the Doctor says "Or it's okay if you come alone. There is nothing wrong with being a single parent." The other smiles and gives Liam's palm an assuring squeeze and Liam is thankful for that. The Doctor's scent, he can't put a finger on what it is, but it's calming. It's making him calm down instantly.
