My mouth feels dry and my breathing is uneven. I stand by the desk and look down at the images before me. I recognize every last one. John interrupts my thoughts, "I know these may be hard to look at but please tell me if you know who took these." I reach for one of the images with trembling hands, "Harry took these." My voice is shaky and uneven. I glance over at Sebastian's hand, he's covering one of the photographs. He sees that I notice, "You don't have to look at this one." I place my hand on his hand, "Yes I do." I pull the picture out from under his hand. Once I see what it is, I gasp and drop the photograph to the ground. Both my hands covered my mouth and tears formed in my eyes. John bends to pick up the picture and places it upside down on the desk.
The image is seared into my brain. It was a skinned cow's head at my front door with disgusting images of my tortured body pinned to it. There was also a note, "Where's the note?" I say with my voice barely a whisper. John and Sebastian exchange a worried look. I speak up, "I said. Where. Is. The. Note." John reaches into his pocket and hands me a clear sealed bag with a note inside. He hands it to me.
"I really don't like my toys being taken from me. Return to me or the next head found will be yours."
My heart is pounding in my chest, "He's going to kill me isn't he?" I don't look up but John responds, "I won't let him near you." Sebastian walks over to the window, "If you don't stop him John... I'll find him and serve his severed head on a platter to his mother!" He turns back to John, his booming voice making me jump, "FIND HIM BEFORE I DO! I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU BACK IN MY HOME UNTIL THAT PSYCHOPATH IS BEHIND BARS OR BETTER YET, DEAD!" John simply nods and leaves. The images of my pain are still strewn over Sebastian's desk. Sebastian is pacing up and down in his study. I watch as his chest rapidly rises and falls, "Sebastian." He stops pacing and turns toward me, "I'm going to my room." He realizes that he might have scared me, "I'm so sorry Becca. I just can't understand why it's so difficult to find this bastard!" He has his hands in his hair and I walk over to him, placing my hand on his arm, "They'll find him. Thank you for taking care of me." I smile warmly at him and walk out.
Sebastian sits behind his desk staring at the photos on his desk. She never really told me what she went through. She is truly stronger than she looks.
~~~~~~
A week has passed since John left Sebastian's home. We don't spend much time together anymore and I've decided to start working again. It's my first day back and I head straight for Colin's office.
I knock on the door and push it open slightly to peek my head in, "Hey!" Colin jumps, "Shit! You're going to kill me!" We both laugh as I walk into his office and close the door behind me. Colin gets up from behind his desk and squeezes me in a tight hug. "It's so good to have you back. This place just wasn't the same." We just stand there in each other's arms for a few more seconds before I pull away, "Thank you. I've missed you too." He pulls a face at me, "I never said I missed you!" He starts laughing at my confused expression, "I'm kidding kitten. Relax"
Kitten... A familiar sensation stirs in my stomach and I bite my bottom lip. Colin smiles at me, "Now, now... We agreed. One-time thing. Remember?" Suddenly I feel a little embarrassed, "Sorry. I didn't mean-" He chuckles at my embarrassment, "I can't stop thinking about that night either. Just didn't think it would be appropriate to initiate anything, you know, after everything that you went through." His kindness makes me smile, "I went through something quite traumatic, I know, but it hasn't eliminated my..." I clear my throat, "Needs." Colin doesn't break eye contact and says with a smirk, "Needs?" I feel my cheeks becoming warm and I pull away from him, "Yes. My needs. As in sex. I can't believe you're pretending that you have no idea what I'm talking about." Colin leans back to sit on his desk, "Well then, I'm sure it's safe to assume that Sebastian hasn't claimed you for himself?" His words angered me, "Claimed? I'm not some prize Colin!" I grab the handbag that I had placed on a chair and head to the door. Colin gets up and moves quickly to stop me. As my hand reaches the door, I feel Colin grab me around my waist, "Colin, let me go. I'm not a prize to be won by you or Sebastian!" I feel his breathing on the back of my neck, sending goosebumps down my arms.
His mouth moves to my ear and he whispers, "You aren't a prize, Kitten. You simply have the ability to bring any man to his knees. Haven't you noticed how you affect us? I don't think there is a man in this building who wouldn't sell his soul just to have the chance to kiss your soft skin." His words cause me to drop my bag to the ground. I didn't notice but my head tilted back to give him better access, "The only problem is that I don't want all the men in this building. I'm not even sure I want you." I can feel him smiling as he kisses my neck, "I doubt that." He reaches his hand down and slowly lifts my skirt, sliding his hand in between my thighs.
My breath catches in my throat. He softly bites the skin on my neck, "Relax Kitten. Let me take care of you. You seem extremely tense." His hand slides all the way up my thigh to my underwear, "Your mouth says you don't want me, but what I can feel underneath your skirt tells me a different story." At this point, I have become a weak, hyperventilating mess in his arms. I grab his hand and guide it to where I need him most. He slides his fingers slowly under the thin fabric. He's moving slowly on purpose as he sees my need for him grow.
The door to his office opens and we both jump. "Colin I need your report on-" Sebastian stands in the door and looks at us. I can see the anger on his face, "Pull yourself together Rebecca and meet me in my office in ten minutes." He storms out. I turn to Colin, "I have to go." Colin nods while I walk out, "Kitten." I turn to him as I reach the door again, "Judging by the look on his face. I'd say that he sees you as his. His prize." Colin walks toward his desk and continues working as if nothing happened. I walk out of his office. Shit...
