He sat still on the floor of his cell, eyes focused on one area with his mind all over the place. His dark hair fell carelessly on his face and clung to his skin as sweat kept them in place, but he didn't care.

The silence was deafening. It was anything but peaceful. No, not peaceful at all.

Peace

Peace was something else. Peace was someone else.

The helpless boy sighed and went out of his trance. He moved his hands, and stared down at them. They were shaking, but he knew it wasn't the cold. Hell, it wasn't even cold.

His hands and arms were covered by dried blackened flakes that were previously wet and crimson.

Blood.

But not his.

No, definitely not his. Because if it was, then he certainly wouldn't be in that cell.

He clenched his fist as he recalled everything that happened within the past hours.

"You're wounded." He said, staring at the small slice on her palm as he scrunched his nose in mock annoyance.

The pink-haired girl giggled. "It'll heal faster if you kiss it."

"I highly doubt that." he snorted. "But I'd do it anyway because I know you just want a kiss."

She smiled as he kissed her palm.

As he looked up at her, she leaned down and gave him a quick peck on his lips.

That certainly surprised him. As much as he tried to hide it though, the tip of his ears tinted red.

"Are you blushing, Sasuke-kun?!"
"No."

"You so are!" she teased.

Sasuke huffed as he looked away, mumbling, "Whatever."

The girl laughed heartily as she dragged him by the arm, "Come on then, let's go to the carnival."

The carnival was bustling with activities. People were lining up for colourful rides, ranging from the gentle ride of the carousel to the wild twist of the rollercoaster. The air was filled with aromas of the food stalls, as various games and shows entertained the carnival goers.

It wasn't exactly his kind of scene but seeing the smile on his girlfriend's face, making the place more colourful than it already was ( as if that was even possible with her pink hair and bright green eyes ), while she jumped out and about filled his heart with contentment and happiness.

He'd do anything for her even if it means getting dragged to that colourful place, or kissing palm wounds.

"Come on Sasuke-kun~ Let's go playyy!" She yelled over the noise as she linked their arms together.

"This is physical abuse." He huffed.

Smack!

He let out a defeated sigh as he adjusted her weight behind him.

Piggybacking his girlfriend in public seemed like a faraway trouble a while ago. Well, until he lost the bet they created.

Now, She's riding his back.

In all honesty, he'd rather have her ride him from the front.

Sigh.

Pushing those thoughts aside, he rushed to the nearest bench and sat her down. When she was comfortably positioned, he stretched out his muscles, letting it relax.

Sasuke settled beside her, as she continued staring at him.

"What?" Her stare was making him feel conscious. "Do I have something on my face?"

"No. My boyfriend's just so cute and gorgeous." She giggled and he shifted in his seat out of embarrassment.

He casually put an arm around her shoulder as she laid her head on him. A comfortable silence enveloped them as they stared at the sunset. His other hand effortlessly took hers and held it.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

If he could freeze time then and there, he would. Beside her, he was at peace. Contented, free, and happy.

But life had always been cruel, Hadn't it?
