A few minutes ago, they were hand in hand, peacefully walking towards the exit of the carnival.

Now?

They were desperately running for their lives.

Chaos erupted in the entire carnival as soon as It was reported that a crazy man with a gun started shooting wildly. People rushed to the exist, hopelessly escaping.

They held each other's hands, bodies pressed against each other, as they tried to run amongst the large mass of people.

Screams of fear, desperate wails, and voices begging for help were barely understandable in the wave of noise and yet selfish as it may sound, he never looked back. Not to them, no. But to her, he did.

She looked back at him with concern. Concern for him. No fear was present in her green eyes as she held his hands tight.

All that mattered was her warm hands against his, her body beside him, and her voice in his ears.

So they ran.

It didn't take long before they were ten feet away from the exit. Adrenaline was rushing in his veins, heart pumping in his ribcage. Every shout, scream, and word around him were drowned out by his brain. If it wasn't for his heighted senses, he almost would have missed it.

Almost.

BANG!

So close, so loud, it rang in his entire body.

He didn't plan on looking back or decreasing his speed, but as soon as he heard that pained and chocked gasp, he stilled.

Slowly he turned to face her and rushed towards her before she fell.

She was shot.

He didn't let a second pass as he was down in the ground, holding her body to him.

"HELP! SOMEBODY GOT SHOT!" He screamed out as people ran away in fear of being shot, ignoring him.

The stampede of people increased his agitation as he held the fragile body of Sakura close to him.
