Chapter 61: Epilogue

Nico kept on glancing around him, like he was looking for someone. He knew Jason was dead, but he couldn't help himself from keeping an eye out for him, in case he just showed up late.

"You know, a part of me still doesn't believe that he's really gone." Nico said, moving his Pinochle piece. The 2 of them were playing Pinochle while they waited for Mr. D to come back from whatever he had to do. He just got up and told them that he would be back in a minute. He was trying to teach them again, since they really didn't understand the first time. Nico doubted that they were doing it right, though.

"That happens to some people. We can ask my dad when he gets back, okay? To make sure?" Will said, holding his glass of lemonade in his hand.

Nico nodded. "Alright."

They kept trying to play Pinochle.

"I'm pretty sure we're still doing this wrong." Nico said finally.

"Let's just wait for him to get back."

Nico sipped his lemonade. He glanced around again, and almost did a double take.

Coming towards them yet again was Lester and Meg.

They both looked hurt. Meg's leg looked really bad, and they both had cuts and bruises.

Meg looked a little bit taller than the last time he saw her, and older. Lester looked the same as ever, just with a few extra scars here and there.

Nico nudged Will and pointed. Will looked over and his eyes widened. He jumped up to his feet and ran towards them.

Nico already knew the answer. But he would ask anyway. He needed to hear that Jason was dead from someone else. He tried to prepare himself before he asked.

While he did so, however, Nico couldn't help but have the feeling that this time that Apollo visited Camp Half-Blood would be a lot different than the last.

And he didn't know if that would be a good thing or a bad thing.

I guess he would have to see.
