a/n: Two chapters in one day- thanks to my day off of school! Make sure you read chapter 32 before this one. This is definitely the longest chapter yet.
Also, if any of you have Marina/Stefanielle fan accounts on social media, I would love if you could promote my story. I don't ever plan on going public with my identity, so it's really just word of mouth to get the story out :) xoxo

Carina slept in after Maya left for her 24 hour shift. This was one of the first times she had been in their apartment alone. In the past, when Maya left for work, she would usually head home. Now, this was her home. She stretched out in bed and rolled over to Maya's pillow where she breathed in her scent. Carina held the pillow tight to her chest and rested for a moment before she got out of bed.
She paced around the kitchen and living room and tried to busy herself while waiting for Maya's phone call. The firefighter had promised she would ring her once she had talked to Jack. Maya had already been at work for a few hours, but she hadn't heard anything yet. Carina decided to unpack a few boxes in the bedroom when she heard her phone ring. She looked down to see an incoming call from the station.
Carina: Hi Bambina!
Andy: Carina, it's Andy. Sorry, I'm calling from the station's reception phone.
Carina could tell something was wrong. Andy's voice was panicky and her breathing was choppy.
Carina: Is everything okay?
Andy: I don't know. I started bleeding and I am having bad cramps. Everyone else is out on a call while I sit at reception.
Carina: Okay, no need to panic, yet. Do you know when everyone else will be back?
Andy: No idea. They all left about 45 minutes ago and the bleeding started soon after. I thought it was normal, but it's gotten to be a lot. I can't leave the station while no one is here. What should I do?
Carina: Stay put, I am on my way. Can you call another station to see if someone can come and cover for you? I'll be there in 10 minutes.
Andy: I'll see what I can do. Just hurry please, the cramps are getting worse.
Carina quickly changed out of her pajamas and rushed out the door to her Porsche. On the drive to the station she tried calling Maya's cell phone several times. She doubted that she had her phone on her, but she attempted anyway.
When the doctor arrived at the station, she realized that Andy's situation was much worse than she had let on. Andy was face down on the reception desk with her face in her hands and she was extremely pale.
Carina dialed 911, while she tended to her.
"Hello, this is Dr. Carina DeLuca, I am with a firefighter at Station 19. We need to get an ambulance here ASAP. There is no one else here to help, they are out on a call."
The 911 operator assured her that 19 had finished their call and would be back momentarily. The operator called them and told them to have the aid car prepped and ready.
Carina hung up the phone and eased Andy to the ground. She placed her coat beneath her head and started to examine her. She could tell from the stain in her uniform pants that the bleeding had become extremely heavy. Carina prayed that the team would arrive soon. There wasn't much she could do for her until they got to Grey Sloan.
Carina had grabbed her stethoscope on the way out of the house. She listened for Andy's pulse and recognized that it was thready. She desperately needed to perform an ultrasound and to get her a blood transfusion.
