The married couple laid in bed cuddled up to one another under the thickness of their comforter. The weather started to warm up during the day, but the Seattle spring nights were still awfully cold. The wives gripped onto each other tightly as anxiety radiated through both of their bodies. Tomorrow officially ended their parental leave and they had to return to the real world.

Carina had cried on and off throughout the entire day at the thought of leaving Josie. On the other hand, Maya had tried to remain strong and positive for her wife. However, tonight all of the blonde's insecurities came out and she sobbed softly into the arms of her wife.

The Italian didn't draw attention to the small puddle of tears that had formed around her collarbone where Maya had nuzzled her face. Instead, she stroked her long blonde hair and whispered soft "I love yous" to her. It was clear that neither woman was ready to leave their daughter; even though Josie would be spending the day with her grandma on their first day back to work.

All week, Carina had the thought in her head of adding to their family. Now, she wasn't so sure. The pain she felt about leaving their daughter was nearly unbearable. The doctor didn't know if she could handle it again in another year or two. Carina hadn't brought this thought up to Maya yet. She wasn't sure how to approach the subject. Luckily, for Carina though, Maya brought the subject up on her own.

Maya broke away from Carina and sat up against the back of the headboard. She took a deep breath and wiped away her mascara that ran in streaks down her cheeks. Carina followed her wife's lead and rested against the headboard as well. She could tell that the blonde had something she wanted to say.

They sat in silence for a moment before the fire captain finally said, "Am I crazy to be thinking that I want to do this all again?"

Carina didn't say anything. She knew that Maya hadn't completed her thought by the way her eyebrow crinkled and the way that her forehead vein popped out. Both of these were clear displays of her anxieties and nervousness.

The blonde put her face into her hands and giggled quietly, "Like I am insane, right? We are about to return to work tomorrow for the first time in three months. Jobs we both love, nonetheless! Yet all I can think about is having more babies and staying in our little bubble together forever."

Carina smiled at her wife who still had her face hidden. She placed both hands on Maya's cheeks and tilted her head upwards so they were looking at one another.

"Not insane," Carina assured her.

"No?" Maya asked. She pressed her forehead to Carina's and offered a gentle smile.

Carina wrapped her arms around Maya's waist and pulled her onto her lap so she was straddling her. The blonde rested her head on Carina's shoulder and whispered into her lover's ear, "I want to put a baby in you right now."

Obviously, both women knew this was impossible, but the thought of it turned both of them on like crazy.

The doctor played along with what Maya said. "Oh, you do, bella? How would you go about doing that?" she asked, flirtatiously.

"Well, it would start with me doing a little of this." Maya latched onto Carina's pulse point and sucked lightly.

Carina pushed her away and laughed. "Bambina! I cannot go back to work with hickies all along my neck!" The captain offered an exaggerated pouted lip and blinked her bright blue eyes at her wife.

The Italian rolled her eyes, then closed them as Maya reattached herself. "I guess I can wear a turtleneck," Carina said through a soft moan.

"Mhm," Maya said between deep kisses. The doctor's hands were lost in Maya's wild locks of bright blonde hair.
