SORRY FOR THE WAIT BUT HERE, HAVE CHAPTER 10

~~~~~~~
It was quiet. Way too quiet for Zak's liking. There were machines beeping a couple feet away from him and as he regained full consciousness, Zak could see a figure to his left slumped over.
They looked exhausted and as his vision cleared, Zak could see it was Darryl's mom. A slight feeling of disappointment raised in his chest when he looked around and didn't see Darryl.
"Um, hey. What happened?" His voice was hoarse and his mouth felt chalky. Darryl's mother sat up and smiled brightly at the other, shock painting her expression.
"Oh goodness! I'm so glad you're awake," she got up and held up a finger indicating she'd be back in a second. As much as Zak wanted answers, he knew she was probably going to get a doctor so he didn't complain.
He tried to remember what exactly had happened but it was a futile attempt.
When the doctor and Darryl's mom entered the room once again, Zak smiled. The doctor looked happy as well and shook the weak patients hand.
"Glad to see you're doing well Zak. This is the same room you were treated in a little while back," she spoke softly. Zak wouldn't say 'treated' necessarily. He was held there when his body decided to stop working and was now in the same predicament.
The doctor was talking but all the small male could think about was Darryl. Did Zak really upset him so badly that he didn't come to the hospital? Or perhaps he was still out with Chris. In which case, Zak couldn't give less of a shit.
He tuned back into the conversation and realized the two were trying to catch his attention. He hadn't been listening.
"Hey, sorry to interrupt but. Where's Darryl?"
It was only now that Zak had looked at the poor woman and actually saw her. Due to her red, puffy eyes it was apparent that she had been crying. Her makeup was ruined as well.
"He came to see you! But-" suddenly she gasped and there was a horrified expression on her face. It caused Zak's brows to draw closer together, his face questioning her silently.
With the next sentence Darryl's mother spoke, Zak understood why she'd been so shocked.
"I told him you were dead."
The male frantically looked around as the two others in the room tried calming him down. Though, nothing could pacify the anxiety and fear that swelled in Zak's throat. When he finally found his phone he tapped on the black, mirror-like screen and nothing happened.
It was only till he tried again that he realized it was dead. There was silence in the room, only for a moment until tears began to form in Zak's eyes.
"Honey it's okay! I can call him right now, it really wasn't too long ago that he left! Just calm down okay?" Darryl's mother, in an attempt to comfort Zak, put a hand on his shoulder. He tensed and stared at his hands, trying to keep it together and not overreact.
Though, Darryl still thought he was dead. How could he not overreact?
"I understand this is a stressful situation. But I'm sure you'll be glad to hear that the accident isn't going to leave any permanent damage to your body and you can go home in a matter of weeks. It's a miracle you're alive and an even bigger one that you're not paying a price for it." With that, the mildly familiar doctor left the room, her heels making a clicking noise as she disappeared into the countless halls of the hospital.
