~April 10th, 1996~ 9:30am Cole residence

Janet and Aaron were now in front of Ms. Cole’s building. The place looked run down. Scorch marks blackened the walls and sidewalk. The smell of pot among other things were in the air. Broken beer bottles covered the floor, and many of the windows were either broken or cracked, covered by wooden boards from the inside.

"Who would raise a child here?" Aaron asked in disgust.

"Apparently a lot of people. I've seen places worse than this," she said unfazed. She knew the seriousness of this case, and  she had to get those kids out of there, fast. They entered to the smell of burning metal in the air.

"This is a health hazard," Aaron said, coving his mouth. Janet smile at how he was not accustomed to it. She was; that's where most neglected and abused children are. In or near drug houses. They climbed the stairs. A few cats were hanging around, having fun sniffing the two new comers. They reached the fifth floor, and walked to apartment 58. Janet knocked on the door. There was scuffling and shouting. The screams of a child filled the silence.

"Ms. Cole!! Open this door right now!!" she shouted, but the screaming continued.

"Aaron!!" Janet pushed against the door, trying to get it open.

"Don't just stand there!! Help me!!" she screamed. He snapped out of it, and kicked the door down. It cracked off the hinges, and they saw a skinny woman stomping on a four year-old boy.

"Stop it!!" Janet pushed her off of him, and held him close as he cried.

"You bitch!! The fuck you think you are?!"

"CPS. I can clearly see that you put both of your children at risk. Where's the baby girl?"

"Like I'm going to tell you shit!!" Janet called the police while Aaron checked around the area.

"Get out of my house!!"

"Not until we find your daughter!!" Janet held the boy on her hip. He had finally stopped crying and held tightly to her.

"What the fuck is going on?!" Janet turned to see a tall, muscular built man towering behind her.

"Who is she?!"

"CPS," said the woman. He gave a cold stare at Janet, then came towards her.

"Give him to me," Janet held to the boy tight as she stepped away from him.

"Do you abuse this child?"

"No!! He's a bad apple!"

"NO child deserves to be punched and kicked by their own parents!!" Janet shouted. She made her way towards the door.

"Hand him over,"

"No!" He lunged at her, grabbing the now screaming child, and pushed her to the floor. He screamed and cried as his so called "Father" handed him back to his "Mother," and grabbed Janet by the neck, lifting her up off the ground to where her feet could barely touch the floor.

"You ain't taking my son nowhere bitch," he punched her forcefully in the stomach, and dropped her to the floor as she gasped for air. Aaron came in, holding the baby in his arms. He set her down on the couch, and grabbed the guy by the arm, twisting it behind his back.

"So. Hitting woman and little kids is your thing? You ain't a man...you're a pussy," with a swift move, he spun him around, and punched him in the chest, and grabbed is arm. The crackling snap of the bone breaking echoed through the room as the man now screamed in agony.
