Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching.
Spencer knew he was totally boned as soon as his dad got home. The last time he got a grade this bad he was grounded for a week. No phone, no laptop, he could only leave the house for school. He couldn't even go to the library to study.
In the grand scheme of things it wasn't even that bad, his father just had a stick up his ass. He had a stick up his ass about everything.
The only question now was when his dad would get home. Usually he was home right after lunch, but Spencer had made himself lunch and cleaned up and he still wasn't home.
He supposed he'd go change out of his church clothes and get some homework done if his dad was going to be late.
He almost forgot that he was even waiting for his father when there was a knock on his door. Spencer didn't even have a chance to tell him he was good to come in before his dad pushed the door open.
"So I checked your grades today," Spencer's dad stood in the doorway, not even bothering to step into the room and have a conversation.
Here it was.
"Do you want to talk to me about anything?"
"Listen, I bombed the presentation, I'm fixing it," Spencer wasted no time in trying to reason with his father. He couldn't be grounded again, completely isolated from everything that made it even somewhat bearable. Being trapped in this house was hell."Do better, Spencer," his father sighed.
"I will," Spencer was nodding earnestly, trying not to let his guard down yet.
"If it's not fixed by next week you're being grounded. After that you'll come right home after school until your grades are fixed, got it?"
"Yeah, got it," Spencer nodded once more.
"Good."
Then his father was turning around and leaving — and he didn't even bother to shut the door behind him.
Well, he was totally boned.
