Two weeks passed by amidst love, laughter and enjoyment. Victoria and Colton couldn’t have asked for more. They strolled along hand in hand on the beach with Asher everyday. Colton started studying Fine Arts like he always wanted to. Victoria joined her online studies since Asher was too young and dependent upon her. Colton kept a housekeeper and a nanny for Asher which made Victoria have loads of free time at hand.

It was evening and Asher was about to wake up. Colton had disappeared suddenly without a word to Victoria. Asher’s nanny, Nancy Wells was a middle-aged, experienced woman who handled Asher quite efficiently. She came over to the kitchen to summon Victoria for a feed. After feeding Asher, Victoria was just about to call Colton when her housekeeper, Maggie, rushed into her bedroom.

“Victoria, you need to go and help Colton. He needs you,” she informed her. Victoria immediately started to panic. Was Colton in some danger?

“Where is he?” she asked as she got up to rush out of the room.

“Outside,” said Maggie. Victoria ran out of the main door and looked around. Colton was no where to be seen. She checked the front yard as well as the backyard. Still there were no sign of him anywhere. Then she saw something like fire on the beach. Clutching at her heart, she ran out to the beach, her heart filled with apprehension. Was Colton hurt? What was that fire like thing on the beach. As she approached it, she was startled to find small specks of fire at regular intervals on the sand. Who could be playing with fire? The she saw Colton’s silhouette in the faint light from the houses skirting around the beach. She ran towards him.

“Colton, what are you doing?” she shouted out to him. He didn’t budge and simply stood there waiting for her to come closer. Victoria gasped with surprise seeing that the specks of light from the beach were nothing but lanterns spread out on the sand at regular intervals to form a heart! They looked beautiful combined with the rose petals strewn everywhere. Excited and breathing hard she walked up to Colton who stood in the middle of it all. He had a sweet smile on his face while his eyes sparkled with excitement and euphoric happiness.

“Colton, what’s all this?” she grinned happily, looking around. Colton smiled and got down on one knee before her. Seeing him kneel, Victoria gasped with surprise understanding the meaning of it all. He was going to propose to her! Colton picked up her hands in his and looked into her eyes.

“Victoria, we both have come a long way together. I know that I’ve hurt you many times but it was simply because I was jealous of every man who came near you. I deeply repented my behavior towards you but the harm had been already done. It was only when I gave up all hopes of your forgiveness, you showed up at my doorstep like a blessing. I can’t show all the love that I feel for you, I’m very bad at it but I’m trying. I’m trying to show you how much you mean to me. I want to cherish you this way forever. So please will you marry me and let us seal our fates together in an eternal bond of love?” he asked looking at her expectantly.

“Yes, Colton,” she gushed with tears of happiness glistening in her eyes. Colton reached his pockets and took out a beautiful and sparkling diamond ring that dazzled in the faint light. He took off the ring that Trevor had given her and placed it into his pocket. Then he pushed the ring he got for her onto her waiting finger.

Getting up, he pulled her into his arms. “How do you feel being engaged to me?” he asked with a smile that brightened up his face and lighted up his eyes. He looked so happy to be able to make her his in the true sense of the term. Now just the wedding would happen and they would be united.

“Incredulous yet amazed! Here I was feeding Asher when Maggie called me saying that you needed help. I was so scared. You could have given me a hint at least,” she said with a smile.

“I wanted it to be a surprise.  So did you like it?” he asked anxiously.

“I loved it as well as the ring,” she told him.

“And me?” he asked with a pout.

“You the most, of course,” said Victoria with a grin, pulling him closer to peck his lips but he claimed her lips in a kiss that branded his name onto her soul forever. After an intense kiss, they walked along the beach, happy in each other’s company.

The next days were very hectic as Colton wanted to marry her in a week’s time. It seemed that he had already procured the marriage license. So they called everyone to announce their plans. The wedding would be held on the front yard of their house. After four days her parents came over and the planning started with full force. Sofia and Davion too arrived a day later and soon it was celebration time for all of them. They invited their close relatives and friends only since it was arranged at such short notice.

Victoria didn’t want any gala party with Asher being so small. The wedding preparations were done as well as the decorations. Victoria’s family gave her and Colton a small pre-wedding get together and treat and showered them with gifts. On the eve of their wedding they walked on the beach hand in hand enjoying the sunset together.

“Do you have any wish that’s yet to be fulfilled?” asked Colton.

“Yes,” whispered Victoria.

“Tell me,” he asked eagerly.

“I want to be a mom to your child now. It’ll be a gift to you. I want you to be with me and experience the joy of fatherhood,” she told him. He stopped her and pulled her into his arms.

“I know what you mean but Asher has already given me the joy of fatherhood. I might not be related to him by blood but I’m still his dad. He taught me how to be a father,” said Colton. It touched Victoria’s heart deeply and they kissed till the sun finally set and it was time to get back to celebrate the night with their loved ones. Tomorrow was a new day, the day they would unite as one. It would be the most special day of their lives!
