The crib arrived and so did the nursery room furniture. Colton felt a new found energy inside him to assemble them for Asher. Ever since Victoria disappeared into his bedroom he had been fidgeting here and there, wanting to talk to Victoria more, to kiss her again but she didn’t once emerge.
He opened the adjoining door which connected the nursery to his bedroom. Victoria gasped while feeding Asher. Colton couldn’t take his eyes off her. She looked so beautiful feeding a baby, almost like a Goddess or an angel. “Colton, what are you doing here? I’m feeding Asher!” exclaimed an agitated Victoria, her face flushed with color. A strange light entered his eyes and he determinedly walked into the room instead of going away.
“Get used to me, baby. You’re mine, you said, didn’t you?” he reminded her. Victoria’s mouth hung open. Of course she had said that but would he stare at her that way every time she fed Asher?
Colton stared at her ripe breasts for the first time and yearned to touch them. Her sultry lips looked more luscious than before and he was on the verge of losing his sanity. Victoria hadn’t responded to his question which only excited him further knowing that she was joe his, only his. He abruptly strode out of the room unable to take in anymore. He didn’t want her to see how aroused he really was for her. For the next few minutes, he fixed Asher’s nursery. Finally it was complete and ready for use. Victoria placed a sleepy Asher on his comfortable crib and he immediately dozed off to sleep. Colton had placed a digital baby monitor too for Asher and Victoria had to appreciate his efforts.
“Do you like the room, now?” asked Colton, looking proud at his handiwork. He had never fixed up a nursery in his life. Victoria looked around and appreciatively.
“Not bad. I love it. Thanks, Colton. I have to change my opinion of you, it seems. You’re proving to be such a good dad to Asher. Well! I don’t want to hurt you or force you into this. Do you want to be a dad to Asher?” she asked him hesitantly. Colton looked at her with hurt in his eyes.
“Of course I want to be his dad. Why else do you think I’m doing so much?” he asked looking offended. Victoria smiled with relief.
“I’m just asking, Colton. I don’t want to impose,” she said.
“Impose? You’re here to have a future with me, right?” asked Colton eagerly. They walked out of the nursery to allow Asher to get his sleep.
“Obviously, yes,” said Victoria. “Okay, sorry that I asked. Happy?” she said with a smile. Colton shook his head.
“How can I be happy when you didn’t even give me a single kiss?” he asked, pulling her into his bedroom. He pushed her against a wall, his eyes boring into hers. With his body pinning her against it, Victoria’s breath hitched with anticipation. She closed her eyes waiting for him to crash his lips to hers. It was something she had been wanting badly but he didn’t kiss her.
Opening her eyes she looked deep into Colton’s dark stormy ones that were inches from hers. “I want you to kiss me, Victoria. I want you to look at me as you kiss me. I need you to realize that you’re kissing me and not Trevor, “ he whispered looking jealous. Victoria gaped at him angrily. How could he even think that?
“How can you even say that, Colton?” she gritted, pushing him away angrily.
“Why not? You were marrying him? You two must have shared something together?” Asked Colton looking jealous. Victoria stomped away from him but he caught her hand.
“We didn’t share anything of what you are implying. We only held hands, nothing else,” stated Victoria furiously.
“How can that be possible? You’re trying to tell me that you two didn’t do anything and yet you were planning to get married? That’s unbelievable, don’t you think so?” asked Colton, looking frustrated. Tears pooled into Victoria’s eyes. What did he think she was?
