Today there was another ball that I had to attend even though I clearly didn't want to.
"Nirusha baby, you're going to be with the babysitter okay? I'm going to a ball today and I'll be back by tomorrow morning. I love you." I pecked her cheek softly.
"buh-bye dada," She hugged me.
I was wearing a plain black undershirt with a black blazer and trousers. On my neck was Nishani's favourite diamond chain. She loved it on me.
"Sir. It's time." One of my guards said. I silently followed him to the car, thinking of my wife as we left for the ball.
I finally reached home after probably a week. There were a few guards and I was able to sneak past them. I unlocked the front door with my handprint and waltzed in. I went straight to Nirusha's room. I saw how peacefully she was sleeping in her crib. I hovered over her, staring at her adorable face.
"Oh how much I missed you." I whispered. I turned my back and was about to leave until I heard a soft voice.
"Mama?" I turned around to see Nirusha awake, staring at me.
"Oh my baby." I picked her up and cradled her in my arms.
"Mama's home baby. I'm home. I'm never leaving. Never again." I whispered, smothering her in kisses.
"Mama!" She smiled, hugging me tight.
I was beyond surprised that she could say mama at such a young age. She's smart.
"Baby, where's dada?" I asked.
"He's at another mafia ball." I heard someone behind me. I turned around and saw Arthi.
"Arthi!" She ran up and hugged me. I put Nirusha in her crib and hugged Arthi back. Arthi's son was crawling his way over to Nirusha's crib. I giggled and put him in the crib with Nirusha.
"We need to talk." She said, pulling me away from the kids.
"Okay kids be good. We'll be back." I playfully scolded as they both nodded and started playing with their toys.
