Death

    It was an ungodly hour filled with pouring rain, and Y/N had barely gotten any sleep, N may have very well gotten none. He had wanted her to sleep at the back of the cave, on her mat, and she had no qualms about it. But this was the first night she had been cold... N had sat at the front of the cave all night, watching, guarding.... Before the both had been agitated by a heavy... crunch.
   The young woman immediately shot up, N visibly tense, rising to his feet. "Stay." He grumbled, the little human nodding as he slowly crept out of their den towards the noise.. She tried to watch him go as best as she could... but it was dark, the only light was the soon to set moon, covered by heavy rain clouds....
    She watched and listened carefully... before hearing a fierce growl. Her heart stopped, not knowing if it was N, or the thing... but she stayed silent, chewing her lip in nervousness as more unfriendly sounds came from the woods, the heavy ruffling of bushes... before the loudest noise she's ever heard in her human life, echoed through the air... the noise sounding like an angry cry. She knew that wasn't N.
    Y/N slapped a hand over her mouth... hearing a cacophony of growls, barks and snarls... of two different beings that both sounded like N. It's here- it has to be here!
    She flinched as lightning cracked across the sky, leaving a loud thundering sound shaking her core... doubled with the fear of this beast... N... N! What if... he was in trouble....?
    She chewed her lip harder, knowing he told her to stay... but went against his and her own better judgment, standing up... heading to the entrance of the cave... before stepping out into the rain shower; immediately soaked.
     She hugged her arms to her body, following the sounds, the sound of rain only louder now that she was in it... occasional lightning flashes leading her way a little easier to the sound of what seemed to be.. a whine. She knew that whine...
   The former doctor quickened her pace exponentially, before stepping on something sharp... cringing heavily, and gulping as to not make noise... as whatever it was, had cut her foot... looking down... she recognized it to be pieces of a skull... a deer skull... stained with crimson... her face paled... the... one... N put up!?
She gritted her teeth... before whipping around, hearing a crash from the bushes in front of her, causing her to drop to her knees and hide.
A loud whine/snarl came from the rainy darkness, lightning illuminating the scene... N was currently being held down by the neck... a much... much larger creature, similar to N holding him down. Her face paled at the mass of the thing...
This new creature was extremely tall, taller than N... and though it's physic was skinnier, bonier, every part of its body was covered in muscle scarred skin, showing it had survived through hell. Then, at the top of its head, what looked like roots were sticking out, though obviously made of bones... it's claws extremely long and sharp...
The rain poured... making her much smaller body shivering from cold and fear... what... is that!?
"Brakc vo vonto cackre kole..." The creature spoke... it's voice a few low octaves higher than N's, the language unknown and rough, every letter pronounced violently with a snarl behind it, the language seeming to fit the way their skulls could speak better.
"Off!" He snarled... slashing his claws through the air... but was quickly put in his place as those claws pierced the scruff of his neck.
"You speak... the new humans language." The creature responded... slamming its other hand into N's shoulder as he tried to get up again. "You are young... merely a child... no wonder your so stupid." The voice degraded the smaller beast.... Sounding... more mature, more feminine...
Y/N watched in fear, what does she do!?
"Who-!" N barked, not speaking or thinking well it seem, thrashing once again... but the creature dug its claws into his shoulder, slamming its very large, clawed foot into his belly, causing N to grunt loudly.
The mysterious beast shook its head, white eyes looking irritated by the resistance. "My name is ancient... you wouldn't understand... you don't speak our language... you were not raised right." The creature hissed, N confused and afraid.
"I came for your... mating ritual... expecting to become a mother once again... only to stumble upon a pup like you, harboring a human female." The she-beast spat the words with so much disgust, so much primal intent...
"My mate." N snarled roughly. A low... rumbly laugh came from her throat. "Mate!? You truly are idiotic... a disgrace to your species." She snapped her boney jaws near his face, resulting in him flinching back.... Before lightning flashed across the sky... causing her to pause... sniffing the air. "But I didn't come to leave empty handed.... And that girl would prove for a wonderful ritual piece..." She growled slowly... Y/N shaking in her spot as she realized she had turned her head to look directly at the human female.
In less than a split second... a clawed hand had swiped for her face in the flashing light of the thunderstorm... the woman yelling and falling back, immediately jumping to her feet.
"NO!"
Before the doctor could be grabbed at again... N tackled the larger of the two, snapping his jaw down on her shoulder... only to watch as the bigger being raked her claws down his back. "I am centuries older, this is a fight you will die in, young one!" She snarled before grabbing him by the horns, throwing him across the clearing.
Y/N watched in terror... wanting to help... but she would be a fly getting involved in a clash of Titans. She breathed heavy, trying to see in the rain, to think! The two tumbling over back and forth, blood being splattered across the wet, muddy ground that Y/N's feet sank into... a dog like whine ripping through N's throat as he was bit on the leg... a sickening crack filling the air, sounding that it had been broken by the ancient beasts strong jaws.
She scrambled to find something, anything to help! But... there truly was nothing.... As she watched her beast be... ripped to shreds.
Tears welled in her eyes from her helplessness, each whine cutting her heart... N fighting his absolute hardest... every hit he landed doing minimum damage... she was relentless, merciless, a true primal killer that stopped for nothing.
A loud crack filled the air, luckily not from N... but from lightning hitting a tree right beside the young woman... She yelled, diving out of the way, mud coating her body as it fell right beside her, sticks hitting her back.... This action taking N's attention from the fight over to her... reaching out for his human... his mate... only to be grabbed by the eye socket of his skull... and thrown to the floor like a ragdoll...
He crawled to get up... one leg entirely out of use... his arms bleeding profusely, a deep cut from his chest to his belly... a miracle in itself it hadn't cut any deeper, or his organs would be spilling out. The weak move to get away was only met with a hand slamming onto his head, a loud snap filling his ears as he felt his skull crack, right above his eye socket as he was driven into the dirt... a weak whine coming from his mouth.... Looking over to where the tree fell as his body gave up on him.... The shadow of an arm being raised to deal the final blow.

His dying wish... being that his mate would survive... and hopefully remember him when he's gone.....
