She looked up to see N get grabbed and thrown to the ground, her breath stuck in her throat as the very light red of sunrise touched the clouds, giving minimal light.
Goddamnit Y/N, do something! She pushed herself up from the ground... seeing a piece of the tree that had broken on the ground... the end more like a spike for how serrated and sharp it was. Immediately, she scrambled over, picking it up... it was heavy... but manageable. She looked over to see the beast raising her sharp claws... the young doctor knowing that'd be it for N.
"Goodbye, stupid child." The monster hissed, before bringing down her clawed hand full speed, being jolted forward by something. What could only resemble the scream of a thousand people shrieked through the air as Y/N shoved the stick up her stomach, ears ringing from the sound.
"Die!" The female human screamed, almost getting grabbed by the flailing creature, before jumping up and giving the spike one more shove upwards... definitely piercing a lung or her heart.
The ancient beast fell back, Y/N backed up quickly... the creature wrenching the spear from her abdomen... blood sputtering from her jaws as choked cacophonies of death raised from her chest.... The now open wound gushing out gallons of dark black blood... her body twitching, having several violent contractions... before finally coming to a still... as the light left the sockets... leaving the skull dead once again.
The young woman watched the horrendous scene as the light slowly illuminated the area more... the rain slowing gradually... before turning around and running over to N, dropping to her knees so fast she almost fell.
"N! N!" She cried, patting his shoulder where it wasnt cut. "N! It's me... it's me, please wake up...." Her voice wavered as he didn't move, tears threatening to spill. "Your okay... we're okay... you saved me, you did it... come on...!" She whimpered, before putting her head to his chest... hearing the ever so faint pounding of his heart... Her lashes fluttered, salty droplets blinking from her eyes as she did the action. "Your alive! Your alive... but not for long..." She chewed her cheek, immediately snapping into a different mode, getting to her feet... knowing she had to get to work and fast if she was going to save N..."N!"
"N! Wake up!"
"You can do it!"
A heavy wheeze came from the dark beast... N opening his eyes to the blurry light of... sun... warm sun... no rain... sun... His eyes slowly closed as it was difficult to open them, especially in the light.
He could... feel... his heart... No longer did he feel like he was floating in a different realm... he could feel air enter his lungs... and a special little hand... human hand laid on the top of his stomach... making him will his eyes open... as he saw the blurry picture of Y/N... what seemed to be a smile and... water coming from her face... oh tears...
"Nnn... nnn..." He whispered as more of a growl, trying to talk... but somewhat failing from his lack of coherence. That little hand rubbed his fur softly... he felt warm... encouraged... so he willed himself even harder to open his eyes... focusing on her image... the blur slowly going away as he forced himself to look at just her...
"Nnnn... nnno..." He tried again, she kept rubbing him gently.... Before he heard that wonderful voice...
"Don't push yourself N..."
Just her voice made him wanna try harder... wanting so desperately to speak with her... "No... nnno... c-cry.... Y/-N...n." He croaked, tryna raise his claws to her teary cheek... quickly being stopped by the sharp pains shoot through his arm, groaning gently... The hand patting softly.
"No N... stay still please, for me." She asked him as sweetly as she could, watching as her beast stirred... it had been a week since he had last opened his eyes.... Since then, she had been treating him... leaves and dried mud coated any wound... underneath was his own spit she had collected as well as some mashed up herb mixes she had prayed would help... the large leaves and mud over top to keep it place, keeping the medicine moist so it wouldn't dry; not being able to use bandages as she didn't have any; all while cleaning the wound almost every day.
She had been terrified he would've stayed in a coma forever... but today, her lucky lucky day... he had started somewhat opening his eyes, lolling his head, and now even talking! She hadn't wanted to rush him to waking up... but he truly couldn't stay in this coma for any longer... he needed to eat, and it was extremely hard for her to coax him food... she had barely gotten anything down... and what she had, had been- crab apples and herbs... he never taught her to hunt, nor did her father.
He laid still again... but was staring right at her, moving his jaw weakly... obviously trying to move still, or maybe just... do something.
"Did... how.... A-am alive...?" He questioned weakly, looking at her tiredly.
"The monster, I... I killed her..." She gently petted his head, making sure to miss his ear that was torn.
"Killed...? Is... is... you... h-hurttt...?" He groaned gently, she shook her head. "No... no I'm okay... but you... you were beat up very badly N, you need rest..." She rubbed his head, him whining softly and groggily.
"N loves... Y/N..." He said gently, she blinked. "What?"
"N... loves you... Loves... you... I love you." He repeated, looking into her eyes. That was the first time she had ever heard him say that to her... first time she's heard those words in a while.
Tears of heavy emotion welled in her eyes... before wrapping her arms around his big furry neck. "I love you too, N..." She replied shakily... wether it was romantically or just a deep bond, she didn't know yet... but what she did know, is they've made it to hell and back twice, together.
And she wasn't sure she wanted to change that.
