I, Liz Dodson, am a cheerleader. I hate it when people say that cheer is not a sport. I have heard people say gymnastics is like the navy SEALs. If they are the SEALs then we are the Marine Corps. We practice for months to perfect 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Football players go out halfway through a game with a broken ankle. We can't, we have to keep going, pretend it doesn't hurt, and smile.
Cheer is a dangerous sport. You throw yourself under your flier to save them. I risk my life to do what I love. When we sign up we have to say that we know we could die. That scared one of my friends. She was begging me and my friend to quit. I told her I am willing to take that risk.
If think cheer isn't a sport meet me at the mat.
