She opened the window and what she saw next shocked her. There were a number of fluorescent lights broken and some were just kept over there. She tried to see if anyone one was there. She did spot the silhouette of a man but it vanished within seconds. She then realised she had past her bed time and without any delay went to bed. The next day she woke up and realised there was a note on the table which said, "Within its bones pushing out against its skin, its complexion the ash-gray of death and its eyes pushed back deep into their sockets, the Wendigo looked like a gaunt skeleton recently disinterred from the grave." She was speechless while reading the note. "What does this mean? How did this get here? Why could anyone even write this and keep it on my table? What is this note hinting me?" She asked herself, but had no answers. She couldn't waste her time on that note since she had to go to school.
She reached there and straight away headed to the library to get a clue about it. She tried to Google it and she found something weird about some evil spirits. All the myths she never knew about, something about a wendigo. The school bell rang and there came Angela. She saw that Laura was really disturbed. "Hey lagoon, Good Morning!" she said. "Excuse me? Do I look like a lagoon!?" She said angrily. Laura was already disturbed by the note and she only wanted to know how it landed up in her room. Angela laughed at the way she said that sentence. Laura shamefully looked down. Angela said," Chill! Don't, need to be so mad on me I'm just playing with you. You're such a kid!" and she noticed the piece of paper Laura was trying to hide from her. She grabbed and read what was written in it. Laura asked," Do you know what this means?" Angela looked surprised. "Wow.... You uncultured swine! How the hell you don't know what this means!" Laura replied," I'm Sorry but since I don't know what this means you can tell me, right?" Angela looked at her with big eyes. "Ok, I will tell, but promise me you won't get scared and then blame me."" I promise!" said Laura.
"Ok, so this note is a basic description on how a wendigo looks like. Wendigo is a mythological creature or an evil spirit which is originated from the parts of the United States and Canada. It is a malevolent spirit." said Angela. Laura replied," You really believe in that stuff?" " Hmm... Actually no, my grandmother had told me about it, and it seems that the person who wrote this note also believes it." Laura starred at the note and she then decided to go to the library after school. "Also... Where are my crayons? And my pen?" She asked. Angela looked at her in a very strange way and said," I'm sorry I forgot the other colors but for now I only have pink and red." 'Wait then where are your other colors?" asked Laura. "Umm lost." "Oh God! And my pen?" Laura asked. "Chill, I have it with me in my bag." Angela replied. "Then give it to me back!" said Laura in a very annoyed way. "But, I forgot to bring my pen so can I used this today also?" asked Angela. Laura replied, "Oh my God! Have mercy on me! Ok use it for today but at the end give it back alright?" "Ok" Said Angela.
Laura only wanted to find more about this wendigo. During her break time she went to her school library. She tried searching a book about this creature. She asked the librarian for a book. The librarian said, "Child, Why do you want to know about creatures which are not even real?" Laura replied," It is just curiosity". The librarian smiled and said, "I would love to help you with your curiosity but I'm sorry to say we don't keep mythological books in our school library. You can see many other books like The Charlotte's Web, The Dandelion System, etc." Laura wasn't interested in the other books. "It's fine..." She said and left the library.
After school she decided to go to the public library. She went there and luckily found some books about the wendigo. She read that possession by a wendigo is thought to cause drastic physical changes in the body of the host like change in skull and skeleton structure. It is exceptionally strong and can grow incredibly stronger in full moon nights, just like a werewolf. They can tear humans apart from limb to limb without any effort. It is believed that wendigo is a symbol of winter, dangers and selfishness. She also read that the two weaknesses of a wendigo are Anasazi symbols and fire.
After gaining so much knowledge about the wendigo she went back home. Surprisingly there was no one at home and the door was opened. She went in and saw the television was on. The headlines said, "A young girl found murdered in the Passion of Learning High School" Laura thought for a second and shouted, "Oh my God! That's my school!"
