Lance's perspective:

During class, I couldn't shake off the thoughts of my earlier conversation with Leah in the truck. It gave me butterflies in my stomach. Leah seems like such a sweet girl, and just thinking about the pain she was in earlier made me feel uneasy. I can't help but wonder about all the struggles she must have faced throughout her life. I'm seriously considering asking her to prom and to be my girlfriend because she deserves someone who cares for her. It’s not fair that Darcy bullies her. I told Darcy that if she couldn’t say anything nice about Leah, she should keep quiet, and then I walked away.

Later,
Leah woke up in the nurse's office to find me there. "Hey, are you okay?" I asked. "Yeah, I’m fine. I have to get to cheerleading practice. I’ll see you later," she replied as she walked out. "Bye," I said.

At the end of the school day, Tweeter handed Leah an invitation to a barbecue. "Sure, I’ll come," she said. "Great! Hope to see you there," Tweeter responded. "Okay," Leah replied as she headed home to spend some time with her baby brother, Luca.
