'Meh, another day of boring school,' I thought to myself, pouting.

It was my first week at my new primary school. Last year, I had received the news that I had been accepted into a special programme, and had to be transferred to one of the 5 schools which offered the programme.

"Mummy! Daddy! Why do I have to transfer schools just to attend this programme? I don't want to leave my friends! I love my school right now and I don't want to transfer schools!" I threw a tantrum immediately after my parents suggested that I transfer schools for this programme.

"My dear Felicia, don't be upset. Mummy and daddy just want the best for you. It is for the best if you attend this programme. See, you can learn so many new things that others cannot learn! You can go on an overseas trip in about 2 years' time, and you can do so much more. Besides, your kindergarten friends are studying at one of these schools! If you transfer to their school, you can see them everyday! You can also meet up with your current classmates during the holidays, so there's no need to fret. Mummy and daddy will give you time to think about this," my mother assured me in a soothing voice.

After hearing my mother's words, I blinked a few times, trying to digest the information. Then, I nodded my head and muttered a reluctant "okay" to acknowledge my mother's words. My parents beamed at me and patted my head. I could feel that they were indeed, very proud of me.

For the next two days, I mulled it over. After considering the options for a rather long time, I came to the conclusion that I would transfer to the school where my Kindergarten friends currently studied at.

When I informed my parents' about my choice, they were more than delighted to hear it. My father scooped me up in a big hug and said that I had made the right choice.

We then submitted the form for our choice, and within a month, I was notified that I had gotten into my choice of school.

I looked around me. The kids in my class had already made friends with each other, but I was still lonely. Of course, there were other lonely kids in my class, but I could not muster up the courage to talk to them.

'Maybe I'd just stay alone by myself for the whole of these 3 years,' I sighed to myself.

As I walked past a group of boys in my class, I overheard them talking. Well, I didn't exactly overhear them because they were talking very loudly.

"You guys wanna come over to my house this Saturday? My house is at 9 Woodfield Avenue," one of the boys said to the others.

Instantly, I paused in my tracks. 'Wait... did I hear that correctly, or did he actually say that... HIS HOUSE WAS AT 9 WOODFIELD AVENUE?'

I brought my hand to my mouth to stifle a loud gasp which threatened to spill out. Overwhelmed with curiosity, I approached the boy who said that.

"Wait, did you just say that your house was at 9 Woodfield Avenue?" I questioned him with a surprised look on my face.

The boy looked taken aback that I, the loner in the class, had asked him a question. Nonetheless, he still responded with a nod.

"WOW!" I exclaimed in surprise. He watched me with a questioning look on his face, as if wondering what I was doing.

Later that day, when my parents got home, I rushed up to them and asked them, "Mummy, daddy! You said that our house address is at 13 Woodfield Avenue, right? Then, where is 9 Woodfield Avenue at?"

"9 Woodfield Avenue is around Block D, if I'm not wrong. It's just a few blocks away from ours," my mother answered.

I gaped at her in shock. 'Oh. My. God. My classmate actually lives blocks away from me? HOLY GUACAMOLE, NO WAY!' my mouth dropped open in utter shock.

Little did I know, that little discovery of mine would have led to something big, and I never would have expected it.
