Chapter 1

(Sapphira)

"Say it, louder." I whimper and curl tighter into a ball as he starts kicking my back. I hear something crack and I scream in pain. "I said, say it."

"I... I'm useless. I'm a worthless slut." My throat croaks and I bight down on my lip, stopping another scream of pain erupting from my worthless body. "Please... no more kicks." I sob quietly, begging him to leave me alone.

"Alright, no more kicks." He leans over me and rips my dress off in one fluid movement, leaving my horrid body bare in front of him. I peak at him as he looks me over. "Your body disgusts me. You're just lucky you don't look like your mother, you at least have some beauty in your face." He grins at me before removing his own clothing, before anything else can happen, my world goes black.

I wake a few hours later in the usual agony. I roll over and lift the sheets to see I'm naked in my bed. I stand and quickly dress, before rushing into the bathroom, hoping he leaves me alone. I quickly strip and jump in the shower, rinsing away the dried blood. Pain shoots through my back and I groan in pain, but I'm used to it. Plus, I deserve it, so I shouldn't be complaining.

If it wasn't for Tom, I wouldn't be in this position. My father wasn't as bad until he found out that his only child had gotten pregnant at 17. He'd wanted to throw me out, but decided that, now that I was pregnant, he could enjoy himself for a while. I rub my small stomach gently, sad that the child will be born into such a horrid life.

A loud knock on the door brings me back to the present and I quickly turn off the shower and jump out, throwing on my clothes, before I open the door to reveal my father standing there, smiling at me. I smile timidly back at him as he opens his arm for his morning hug.

"Did you sleep alright last night, baby girl?" I nod into his shirt.

"Yes, thankyou for putting me in bed."

"It's ok, Saph. I just wanted to let you know that breakfast is ready, so if you wanted something to eat before you go to school today." I pull back and smile at him.

"Thanks, dad." He nods and walks down the hall, with me right behind him.

We walk into the kitchen and I quickly eat the two slices of plain toast he puts in front of me. They taste dry, but with drinks of water, they aren't too bad. After I finish them, we climb into the car and head for my new school. As we drive my father glances at me, a stern look on his face.

"Remember what I said, Saph. You don't talk to anyone, you don't interact with anyone, and you keep your own life to yourself. I've enrolled you as a mute student, and that's how you will remain. We still have to figure out what to do when you start showing off that bump of yours, but we'll talk about it later." I nod as he speaks. "And, make sure you don't eat anything. You're not exactly thin, and that baby of yours is only going to make it worse."

By the time he's finished his reminders, he's parked just outside the school. It's a huge three story school, and is absolutely empty. Everyone must already be in class, which just means I'll stand out more when I walk in late. I sigh and follow my father, in his black suit, into the school and to the office. After a quick talk with the principle, my enrolment is complete and my father gives me a big hug before leaving me alone in my new school.

Now that I'm here, alone, I feel scared. What if I have to go through what happened at my last school? Freak! Slut! Whore! Loner! I guess it wouldn't matter; I won't be talking to them anyway. With another sigh, I head down the halls to my English classroom, starting half way through final term almost guarantees my failure in some classrooms, and if my father drinks when he finds out, it isn't going to be good for me. I knock on the door and wait. After a moment, a middle aged woman opens the door and smiles at me.
