It seemed like forever waiting those five days. My mother and I started getting the items needed for the puppy. We went to PetSmart, Kmart, Walmart, as well as many other stores that sold pet supplies. We bought her a food and water bowl, a wire crate for her to sleep in, a few toys for Princess to play with, and other items that we thought we might need for Princess. My mom contacted the vet office to let them know about Princess. She set up an appointment to bring Princess in for a checkup. We told them that she was a mixed breed.

The day finally came to go get Princess. Bonnie, my family, and I went to pick her up from the groomer. Princess looked so adorable in her dark purple ribbons. We brought Princess back to Bonnie's dog training center. When we got there, Bonnie gave us a brown leather collar and leash for Us to use on Princess. Bonnie then showed my mom I how to leash train Princess. I can still remember that scream that came from Princess while she was being leash trained. I remember my mom saying to Bonnie, " Your killing her!" Bonnie calmed our nerves by saying Princess was fine.

After ten minutes Princess was leash trained, and Bonnie showed me basic commands that I could teach Princess. She also taught me some fun tricks that I could teach Princess as well. The rest of the time that we where at Bon-Clyde Learning Center that day, we worked on obedience and tricks. That night we brought her home. She looked around the house, then my mom put her to bed. I remember my mother telling me that Princess had a little trouble sleeping in her create. She said that Princess yelped all night long. My mom crate-trained Princess in three nights. My mom and dad had decided to crate train her instead of letting her sleep loose in the house on a dog bed or on their or my bed. That was a smart thing to do! Training a dog to sleep in a crate teaches them that they have a place of their own that they can go to and feel safe.

We worked on her obedience training at home. We also took her to puppy kindergarten to help with her obedience skills and to give her some socialization with other puppies. Obedience training includes sit, down, stay, come when called, and heal on the left, next to trainer. While we were in puppy kindergarten, I taught Princess tricks. These tricks included things like crawl like an army person, beg for a treat, give me her paw, play dead, and roll over. Princess was a smart dog. She learned all but two of those tricks. The two tricks she had problems with, because of back problems, were play dead and roll over.

Princess like most dogs liked toys. She was, however, particular about what kind she played with. She was afraid of balls and squeaky toys. She did however, love toys that rattled. I had a stuffed cat that rattled like a purr. She found that toy one day. As you know once a toy has entered a dogs mouth it becomes theirs or it goes into the trash. In this case, it became hers. My mom got me a new one, and I just had to keep it out of her reach. She had three of those cat toys in her life, and they were her favorite toys. She also had a Kong dog toy that could hold treats in it.

In the den of our old house, was an end-table that Princess discovered. She was just small enough to go under this end-table. Princess discovered this end-table one day, and crawled under neith. When she was under that table no one was aloud to touch her. This was because she would snarl and attempt to snap at the fingers of anyone who tried to attempt to mess with her, or try to pull her out from under the end-table. Their were only two ways to get her out other than her coming out on her own. Those two ways were, calling her out with food or her her favorite toy (her rattling cats), or ringing the doorbell. Of corse like any food motivated dog she would also come running when she heared her treat bag or when we had food on the table.
