Hey everyone I have an update on Champ, and Boo Bear, and I .......
As you read in the last chapter I lost my job at a childcare center. Well it too a year to get, but I now have another job in a different childcare. It started out as a temporary part time position as an on call floater. I had a seclude that some days I would go in and sometimes I would not have hours on certain days. I continued working their for a year. I stuck around and received lists of hours. In fact it began to look like I was a floater. I was doing full time hours, but I was still considered a part time employee. The director tried using me in a classroom in the afternoon in a three year old classroom.
Then one day our center lost it's floater for the center. The floater position was full time. Our director came to me saying, we just lost our floater, would you be interested in becoming our full time floater working five days a week. I quickly said yes. Now I am happy and full time working as a floater for this childcare. I have my weekend off to do things I want to do.
Now your probably asking, what does this have to do with Champ and Boo Bear? The answer is everything! I now have the money to do things again with my two wonderful boys! Sadly I have not found the time to bring Champ to an Agility Trial, but I have started bringing him to Show n Goes to keep Champ active in dog agility. Champ had a setback awhile back when he went on the dog teeter the full way without waiting for it to go down. Normally champ would have waited in the middle of the teeter for it to go down. Well instead, he forgot what he had usually done and walked the full thing.
As you might know when a dog does something that it is not used to doing, it frightens them. Champ freaked out the next time he went on the dog teeter. I have been working with him along with Bonnie and he now walks the dog teeter again! I hope to try him again one more time to see if he can qualify in novice standard agility course. Let me reminded you that he has one of his three qualifying ribbons for novice standard. If all things work out, I hope to enter him in the next dog agility competition this summer or fall. I'll let you know if we do!
Other news.......
Boo Bear is now certified as a Therapy dog for a new therapy program called Bright and Beautiful. As soon as I send in his paperwork I am going to contact the program at the library to see if Boo bear and I can become a team for the reading to Rover program at the schools and Wake Country Libraries. I'll let you all know more as we do it! I may look into making Champ a Therapy dog for Bright and Beautiful as well! Will see in the future!
