The Last thing that I did in chapter five was go over to my backdoor neighboors house and spent the night trying to get my mind off the loss of Princess. Staying over at her house helped a little, but i ended up crying myself to sleep over Princess's death anyway. We had Princess for almost fourteen years. She was going to be fourteen that year (according the vet Nelson Haden.) We were not entirely sure of her turn age since we did not know her true birthday. She could have been older or younger. That night after I told Kristin and Lynette about how we had to put Princess down, we had a good cry. Kristin thought of the dog she lost when she heard about Princess. We brought up good memories that we all had of Princess as if we were giving her a memorial service.
Kristin would come over when she was younger and play with Princess. She would say, I am the cat of the day. This was because at the time we had several toy cats that Princess would play with and Kristin would always try to figure out which cat Princess wanted to play with that day. As I said earlier, Princess loved everyone and every thing. I then brought up the time that I had a guinea pig name Sugar and spice. This was a male guinea pig that Princess thought was her puppy. I remember that my mom would say to me, I think Princess would have been a good mom. I would have agreed. She loved licking the back of Sugar and Spice.
I also brought up the time when The Vet Nelson Haden said that he wished that he could have cloned her. (To this day I wish we really could have cloned her.) He agreed that Princess was a perfect first dog for my family to own. Lynette brought up all the times that Princess would bark at a squirrel in the yard, or when Princess would chat with their dogs through the fenced in back yard. We went on and on about the different memories of Princess and the life she had as well as the lives that she touched.
That night after we finished bringing up memories i drew a Picture of Princess for Kristin. After I finished drawing, we both looked at it and made comments that it was the best picture I had ever drawn of Princess with out a picture of her to draw from. we both agreed that it was a wonderful picture and then we both cried. I had drawn that picture from my memories of Princess and how I remembered her looking in my mind. I have drawn many pictures of Princess since that night. The picture at the top of this Chapter is an example of one of my drawings of her that I did on my Ipad.
When I came home the next day Amanda called me and asked if we could hang out. I said yes. When she arrived she came in the house and we talked the whole day about Princess. She decided to come on saturday instead of on monday. On Sunday, my family and I went to church. The pastor was doing his sermon and talked about feeding one of two dogs. Hearing the word dog was very hard on me. I had a little tear run down my face. Missy was sitting next to me in the choir as usual. She saw the tears in my eyes and comforted me until she thought that I thought I would be ok.
I went to class on Tuesday. I was in college at the time in a community college. I had a paper to do for my english class. We were writing papers on politics. The paper was blank person is a good candidate for President because blank. I will not go into more details about that paper, because it has nothing to do with Princess, however at the time I was writing that paper, I asked my teacher if I could write a paper onPrincess. She told me that I could write the paper on Princess, however it could not be in place of the other paper, but that she could give me extra credit for it. I wrote the paper and turned it in. I also did the other paper as well since I had no other choice, but to do it.
This book started out as that paper. After I received the paper back I read it and thought to myself, "this is a good start, but I want to turn this into a book." I still think about Princess during the day or night every now and then, and have created a shrine to keep her memory alive in my heart forever. I still draw her once in awhile to keep my skills up on drawing her. In fact she was the beginning inspiration for me to draw dogs. I now draw many different breeds of dogs, and have thought about becoming a dog portrait artist during my spare time.
