Throughout the next week Bakugo just pretended as if nothing had ever happened. He was playing by the rule that the rest of the group were dumb enough to forget all about everything if it wasn't directly mentioned to them for more than a week. He kept up with his plan of gradually letting more and more of the shivers out and anytime someone looked like they were going to mention it he suddenly became insufferably boisterous. It was such a shame no one could hear Kirishima worrying and Denki's questions over his shouting.

It had been a week since he was almost found out in the cafeteria and he was hopeful that things were starting to look up. Maybe he could live with these shivers for as long as it took for them to go away. Although he could still feel Aizawa's eyes following him everywhere in class, his friends were easy to bluff to and that was fundamentally what allowed him to keep his secret. So he finally allowed himself to relax and hang out with his friends without being as tense as a rock. Obviously with his luck, he could barely make it two hours before everything went to shit yet again.

He had finally agreed to take part in the 'Bakusquad' nightly routine again for the first time since the day his shivers went haywire. There was a little part of him that couldn't help but speculate and worry about whether that was going to happen again. He didn't 100% know the trigger for it was holding the shivers in for too long. What if it was from the blue light of the TV screen? Or the static electricity that followed Kaminari around? He begrudgingly admitted to himself that it was too late to back out now though so he snatched the remote from Sero's hand as quickly as possible in order to get dibs on the best super smash bros character. Although it was a slightly unconventional pick, Bakugo loved to play Yoshi. The little thing just looked so stupid while still giving him a decent chance of winning. Not to mention the sound effects that came with the little dragon...lizard? Bakugo thought the whole character idea was comedy gold.

"You picking Yoshi again Blasty?"

"Fuck yeah I am Dunceface."

"No surprise there."

"Says the guy who plays Link every god damn time! Fucking cheater."

"Not my fault you're always too slow to select him!"

Honestly Bakugo was ready to fight Kaminari on this one but Kirishima had placed a calming hand on his shoulder. So instead of pouncing on Dunceface he just made it clear he was quietly fuming at him. Which to be fair was not very uncommon. As usual, Denki didn't take the death stares to heart. Instead just chuckling and nudging Sero to press start.

They were probably on the third round when Bakugo felt something strange rise from his chest into his throat. It was disconcerting to say the least. It almost felt like he had swallowed one of his shivers, lodging it in his throat. He really hoped his oesophagus wasn't about to start shaking around anytime soon. He managed to avoid it for a solid chunk of time, focusing all his effort and concentration on beating Denki's character to a pulp. It didn't take long for his focus to begin to sway though as the feeling in his throat grew in intensity. Just to make matters worse his brain was filled with the stupid 'Yoshi' sound. How could he possibly have a singular word as an ear worm? Denki finally managed to push him off the screen triggering the classic Yoshi sound card to blast out of the speakers. Just hearing the word that was invading his mind tipped him over the edge. As Denki let out a scream of celebration an almost perfect copy of Yoshi bubbled out of Bakugo's throat. What the actual fuck. How did he even make that noise? If he wasn't so worried about the possibility of being possessed by the fictional creature he would've taken a minute to congratulate himself on the impression.

He considered it fair that everyone slowly turned around to face him. He didn't make eye contact with anyone. Instead opting to stare straight ahead at the screen and not move a muscle (to the best of his ability that is.) There was enough shit to fertilise a farm running through his head right now and he certainly didn't need the idiots to add to it.
