chapter thirty-five, No pulse

FEAR. PAIN. THAT'S WHAT NOVA WAS FEELING on the way home when she was told by the commander that her mom needed to die in order for a truce to happen. Nova and Clarke walked through the gates. Nova still in shock.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Raven walks up with Finn and asks as she looks at Nova who looks like she saw a ghost. "We found out how to make a truce" Clarke answers and Raven lights up.
"Great, how?" Raven asks and Nova lifts her head up swallowing the lump in my throat. When Clarke said that all the people gathered around to hear. Nova looked around her and felt claustrophobic.
"Finn and my mother have to die" Nova states with a dead tone and no expression. Raven's smile slowly fades and so does everyone else's. "What?" Raven breathed out.
"It's punishment. For what happened at the village. Blood for blood" Finn states as Nova looks over at him. "If we refuse?" Raven asks and Nova sighs. "We all die" Nova states as she looks around.
"I say we give them up! Get rid of the killers!"
The crowd begins to cheer and closing in the space.
"Give them to the Grounders" Someone shouts pushing Finn into the middle and making him bump into Nova. "Alright, Calm down!" Nova and Raven shout pushing people away from him.
Raven punches Major Byrne in the face as they tried to stop the fight and grabbed from behind by guards. "Let her go!" Nova shouted lunging towards the guards, but Clarke grabs her by her waist and held her back.
"Nova, Nova come on" Clarke whispered in Nova's ear and pulled her away from the crowd and into the drop ship, taking her to a random storage room.
"It's okay" Clarke says rubbing Nova's shoulder. Nova doesn't make eye contact with Clarke, instead she backs away and faces the wall. "Nova..." Clarke mumbled and Nova heard her take a step forward.
"We're not letting them take them" Clarke reassures and Nova shakes her head. "We both know it's them or us" Nova says, stammering over her words.
"Can I get a minute?" Nova asks and Clarke puts a hand on Nova's shoulder and hugs her from behind. Nova felt Clarke kiss the side of her head gently and walk out the storage room and once Nova realized she was alone, she let the tears fall and waved her hands around to control her breathing.
