rose
𑁍 you smell like love.

-

i stood before you. i bit the inside of my cheeks anxiously. you were waiting for me to speak up patiently.

i decided to work up the courage and tell you how i feel about you. i confessed. i felt proud of myself for not going back on my confession.

i looked down, closing my eyes. you didn't react the way i was hoping for you to react. i looked up. i knew it then when i looked into your eyes. in your hesitation, i found my answer.

i saw pity in your eyes. "sorry," you walked away from me with just one word. that was your response to my confession.

i stood there, the place where you left me. hoping for you to come back. hoping for it to be a dream.

my worst nightmare happened - the regret of confessing my love for you. tears filled the brim of my eyes, blurring my eyesight.

the petals of the rose in my hand slowly fell to the ground. the wind picks up the petals. they were gone with the wind - just like you. there were no thorns yet my heart hurts terribly.

so this is how real love feels like. i understand it now. the pain that comes with something so beautiful and blissful.
