Ananya's POV
The next day is a Friday, full of classes and labs. I left the house about the same time as Karthik Mama's family, after breakfast.
Why didn't we just wait for the weekend to do the party? It was such a fuss in the morning as everyone kept yawning and getting the kids ready for the school. I kissed the kids goodbye and was about to take my leave, but to my unfortunate luck, I got caught by my Atthai.
"Ananya, call me whenever you need me, alright? If you don't want to talk to your family, I can be there for you. Don't be shy to hit me up, I can introduce you to decent boys," she whispered the last part in my ear as she hugged for a goodbye.
"Atthai, I still can't keep up with your slang," my mom has successfully invaded another person's mind regarding my empty love life now.
I reversed my car from the driveway and left for my work at the university.
Lake Side University; that's where I work as a lecturer, a job I have officially started 6 months ago.

I pushed the double door of the lecture hall open and smiled, seeing the class was almost full, although there are still 10 minutes more for the lecture to begin.
"I hope you guys got the memo that we are having our first quiz on next Tuesday. So, pay proper attention in class today," I announced to the class and fired up my laptop to get the slides for the class.
nearly two hours later,
"That's it on the . Next week, we will move on to alkynes. Also, please don't come looking for me in my office if you haven't revised the chapter properly." I placed the whiteboard markers into my pencil box. Waved them away, dismissing the class before picking up the duster to wipe the board filled with lots of drawings.
After replying to a bunch of thank yous, I was about to pick up my stuff and leave, but a 6 familiar faces stood in front of me on the other side of the main desk. Why do people keep interfering me whenever I intend to leave?
"You guys again? Aren't you guys tired of seeing my face? This is our second semester together and—" before I could finish, my students brought up a small cake whilst singing happy birthday.
"How did you guys even get to know this?" I mentioned nothing about it to any of my students, and I had no classes on yesterday, which makes me curious to know how they found out.
"Dr. we are Facebook friends. Have you forgotten that?" These students are pretty scary indeed. I don't even remember having a Facebook account. Do people still use that?
"I mean, c'mon. You are our favorite lecturer after all."
It was very flattering to hear such compliments from my students, but I also have done such things before. I will not fall for it easily. "I taught you guys Lab Safety class last semester, which was hardly a subject. I wonder if you will still say the same thing at the end of this semester."
"Doctor, you do not know how we suffer in the other classes," a guy at the back said with an exaggerated sigh.
I have an obvious idea of that, since I was a student like them right in this university from my undergrad to postgrad days. The staffs have hardly changed except for few faces. "Anyway, thank you so much for the wishes and cake. I'm absolutely grateful for it."
