"I don't see why I should get married"

━━━━━ ◦ ❖ ◦ ━━━━━

Ananya's POV

Our brief reunion ended a couple hours later, we bid goodbye and asked Sameeha to give us an update as soon as possible. Jo dropped me at home and had to rush back to have a stern talk with her son.

With one foot out of the car, I played with Jo for one last time, "Tell Akash I will wait for him until he grow up."

"Oi!" Jo was about to hit me but I rushed out of the car and closed it.

"Goodbye Mama Bear."

It was nearly 6 pm; I went downstairs to check on the commotion in the house. It was not an unusual situation in this house, with 5 kids, the noises were very natural.

"Appa, Thor wants to go for a walk." Meera talked to her father in the most adorable way. Prakash doesn't know that the dog has already gone out in the morning and fell for his daughter's cuteness.

Unsurprisingly, he agreed to her request and asked to get her siblings, so all of them could go out together. Meera happily skipped to call her brothers. Three years old and already a master at manipulation.

"Anu, you wanna come?" My brother who just saw me asked an absurd question that he very well knew the answer I would give him.

"Me? Going out for a walk? Are you crazy?"

"You set a terrible example for the kids." He shook his head mockingly and left.

"I'm not the parent, so you go and entertain the kids." I replied loudly, hoping he would hear me.

On the way to the kitchen, I passed by the dining table and saw Hari doing homework. I could hear the other kids getting ready to leave while this boy was doing homework, very seriously. He didn't even notice I was approaching him.

"Hari, you are not going?"

My presence surprised him. Damn, this kid takes his homework super seriously.

"I'm helping Vithya with her homework." He returned his focus back to the books.

My niece had trouble saying her own name when she was young. Often she will say Vithya instead of Thivya, to make her feel happy we made it her nickname.

Hearing his reply, I find it odd that his sister was missing, when he was supposed to be 'helping' her.

"Okay, where is she?"

He looked at me once again with those wide eyes and shrugged. I got a hold of my elder sister-in-law, Nisha, who passed by me.

"Anni, where is Thivya?"

Instead of replying to me, her voice boomed calling for her daughter, "Vithya, come here. Your Atthai is looking for you."

Obviously, nothing is more terrifying than your mom's shrilling voice calling you. Thivya was in the dining room within seconds.

The little girl sensed she might be in trouble and spoke softly, asking what was the matter.

I crouched down to her level to talk to her, "Your brother is 'helping' to do your homework and you are going out to play?"

"Anna is good at mathematics! I hate it." Her nose scrunched.

"Vithya, you hate it because you don't know how to do it. Go learn from your brother, after you have tried learning and if you still hate it, you can come to Atthai." I held a pink finger in front of her. "Deal?"
