Chapter 13: Olivia Roune POV
I rise early before everyone else and think maybe I should make the breakfast. Pulling out whatever we have left for food makes me nervous because there are only three cans left and with six people, hunger could do crazy things.
Stoking the fire I cook only one can of beans and sit, waiting or the others to awake.
Nate, Harmony, and Calum join me ten minutes later and help me finish off the rest of the can. Kimmy and Johnathan are once again dragged out of their tent cursing the world for interrupting and exhausted from our journey.
While Nate and I help the others pack he says, "Today should be the official last time up guys."
I hear several sighs of relief from the team and I have to agree. Finally we are moving up the mountain for hopefully the last time.
~Eight hours later!~
Stopping for a water break about ten miles away from camp I begin to say, "Once we get to the Land of Fifth, what's next?"
Harmony says, "Next is bliss and freedom."
Johnathan says, "Hopefully privacy and Kimmy next to me."
Kimmy says, "CHOCOLATE."
Calum pipes in saying, "A strong military force that I can rule."
Everyone stops their thoughts of happiness at his comment. Calum noticing that people are staring says, "What? I like to feel in control."
Harmony giggles and Nate says, "Home."
Reaching for his hand we lock eyes for a solid two minutes. Johnathan interrupts our stares saying, "It's like they are kissing each other mentally with their eyes."
I punch him in the shoulder hard enough that he yells, "Ouch, just being honest."
Harmony says, "We should keep moving if we want to reach the top by sundown. Nodding agreement, we keep moving until we see the peak around the corner.
It's like nothing I have ever seen. A small pyramid of stone covered in melting ice, with nothing but beautiful scenery beyond. I am completely out of breath from running the final stretch and it seems like the rest of the group wanted to do the same because all five are worn out.
Gasping for breath, I reach for my water bottle and sit on the ground. Nate sits next to me and says, "You're still much prettier than the view."
I chuckle and say, "Is it really real Nate? You may need to pinch me to make sure."
