prologue

❝𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐑𝐊𝐒 𝐎𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐍 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄 𝐄𝐅𝐅𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐒 𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐑 𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐒.❞ the doctor explained while flipping through his clipboard.

Bakugo looked around the room, sitting on a hospital bed listening to his explanation.

"Nitroglycerin can lower blood pressure levels dangerously, even at low dosages. While people can build up some immunity to it over time, high exposure like you have is very dangerous.

"Now stress like adrenaline and cortisol, can significantly raise blood pressure, and do so fairly quickly." The doctor clicked his pen before looking up.

Bakugo let out an annoyed sigh. "So what the hell does it all mean."

The doctor cleared his throat. "Well, It means.. that your body is constantly never getting a chance to relax, this is your body's way of keeping your blood pressure even." He continued. "You're constantly at 99% stress levels for everything, this is the reason why you do everything so...... um, intensely... You have near max adrenaline on you at all times."

Bakugo squinted at the doctor, knowing what he will say next.

The doctor let out a sigh, placing down his clipboard.

"it's best for you to remain here at the hospital so we can monitor your blood pressure."

The unpleasant new hospital room smell- filled Katsuki's senses as he placed down his luggage on the bed.

He looked around the room taking in its presence.

The room was pretty big, just like every other patients- it had some minimal designs and paintings covering the walls, and the bed sheets were just plain white. He noticed the two fairly sized windows that were behind his bed, that showed off the city skyline.

He froze and whipped his head around and when he heard his parents walk into the room.

"Don't cause any trouble for the nurses, and if you ever need anything honey we're just one call away." Mitsuki encouraged while walking into the room placing down the last box.

"You'll be out this hospital room in no time katsuki." Masaru chimed in, stepping out the door.
"Just... please be good for us, okay?"

Bakugo let out a huff. "yeah yeah.."

Bakugo was about to slide the door shut until Mitsuki remembered something.

"Oh that's right!" Starting to dig through her bag, she pulled out a letter. "I found this in the mailbox today, it's for you." She handed him the letter.

Bakugo took the letter and eyed it down.

'No name, who is this from?'

"Cya Katsuki." Mitsuki said, ruffling his sons hair before leaving, making sure to slide the door closed.

Bakugo walked towards his bed looking for any identification on the letter, there wasn't any.
Bakugo frowned and grumbled some words below his breath before sitting down, and ripping open the letter. In fact, there were three inside.

He took all of them out, throwing the envelope on the floor beneath him, before using his thumb to unfold the first letter.
There was worn out writing, as if the letter had been in the envelope for ages. Bakugo squinted closely to read the note.

Bakugo Katsuki,

How are you doing ya little brat?

Bakugo nearly threw away the paper just from that first sentence, he growled before continuing.

How are you doing ya little brat?

I am writing you this letter from ten years in the future.

..I'm writing a letter to my past because there is something important you need to do so you don't repeat my past mistake.

Bakugo raised his eyebrow.

• apparently my adrenaline is so damn high that now I have to be monitored in the hospital.

I remember absolutely hating it.

"The hell...?" Bakugo muttered out loud.
"How did he....?"

Bakugo pulled the letter closer to his face to further read.
