Y/N was slowly dragging her feet as she made her way to school. She looked down at the coins in her hand that her mother had left her for lunch.

'This isn't even enough for a snack at the vending machine. Great, this must be because of yesterday.' Y/N sighed.

When Y/N was about to walk into the classroom she heard Tachibana's cheerful voice. She was surrounded by a small group of students. They were all actively listening to her story. Y/N stayed by the entrance not wanting to be noticed and listened to.

"-Then the strange kid grabbed both of us while the middle schoolers were on the ground. The kid told us to keep running so I ran to cram school, but the boy with spiked black hair ran in the opposite way." Tachibana had a vibrant way of storytelling.

"Whoa, I wonder what happened to that weird kid that saved you." A kid stated.

"Yeah, it was so cool that they kicked those middle schoolers in the balls." Another said impressed.

One girl came up to Tachibana and asked worryingly, "But didn't you find it kinda creepy that they covered their face. It seems kind of suspicious that they would do that."

Y/N's felt her face warm in embarrassment. 'I didn't mean to look creepy. I just wanted to scare those boys away, but they were just surprised. So I ended up kicking them to get away. Was that cowardly of me to do?' Y/N thought doubting her actions.

"I hadn't thought about it like that." Tachibana looked up, tapping her chin. Y/N's scrunched her brows in worry that she creeped out her very first friend.

'Great just when I've made a friend I go and creep them out. How idiotic of me.'

Tachibana continued, "But I could tell they had good intentions."

'Huh?'

"They saved me so of course, I didn't think they were creepy." Tachibana beamed in confidence.

'Wow, Tachibana is so kind-hearted. I'm glad that I was lucky enough to have such a great friend.' Y/N felt a warm fuzzy feeling surrounding her form. She walked into the classroom relieved. She went up to Tachibana to greet her.

"Hi Tachibana, I'm glad you got here safely."

Tachibana tilted her head and quirked her eyebrow in confusion. "You know Y/N, you don't have to call me that."

Now in return Y/N tilted her head in confusion. "Call you what?"

Tachibana laughed, "You don't have to call me by my family name. Just call me by my given name. We are friends after all."

At that Y/N felt overjoyed, she never thought that someone would accept her as a friend so fast. Y/N gave Hinata the biggest hug she could, "Thank you Hinata. I've never had a friend as amazing as you."

Hinata held Y/N close as a smile spread across her face. "Don't worry about it, I'll always be there if you need me."

They both let go, "I will always be on your side as well, Hinata." After Y/N said that she felt a cold stare, she turned to see none other than Kisaki. His usual dull eyes had bored into her with malice.

'What's his problem? Does he know I'm after his spot as the smartest in school?! No. I never mentioned it to anyone, so he couldn't have known that.'

As class started Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. She ignored it and continued to work with Hinata. Every time she had a question about something Y/N would explain it to her. Hinata never had to go ask anyone else for help. Y/N was always able to easily explain everything to her.
