I know it's controversial, but this is one of the first ships of the show that I really loved. Peridot is the most adorable clueless little gem who used to be a villian before Steven won her over.
Peridot was new to Earth and Steven taught her about the planet and the people and things on it. She learned to love Earth and care for Steven a lot.
In "Too Short to Ride" Steven and Amethyst shapeshifted to ride certain rides because they were so short. Peridot, used to limb enhancers, didn't think she would have any trouble getting around at the boardwalk fair. However, she couldn't shapeshift and learned about her metal manipulating abilities. Steven was always encouraging and made her feel belonged.
When the pair were on the Gem Drill, they got scared and Steven told Peridot he loved her. Whether in a romantic way or not, it still shows how much he cares about her. Over the course of the show, they formed a strong bond and genuine connection. Their relationship is really cute and wholesome.
Do I ship it? Absolutely!
