The world of Teyvat was a mere cage.

It's sky nothing but the false destiny the divine conjured for mortals. The people wish upon stars, false promises that would never come true.

Teyvat was never meant to be rules by humans―upon the wishes of greedy gods that oversee them all. As if their lives were nothing but a play, the world their personal theater to entertain themselves.

But beneath Teyvat — the place that the eyes of god could not reach, humanities will slowly gets stronger. Rebellion, the curse they carry, their strength and ambition that could overturn the heavenly principles itself.

The will of Humanity.

Ever single one of them were puppets, their strings pulled for them to move the way divine wishes. To progress beneath their gazes, watching as you enhance civilization.

But it was not just the humans that they watched.

Archons were born from victors of the ancient war. Rather than being noble rulers, Archons were nothing but the strongest of Celestia's puppets. All seven of them, controlled by the Gnosis, until they finally discard that manipulating piece they carry.

Yet Celestia failed to take control of one single Gnosis.

A Gnosis that constantly changes from the King to the pawn.

A pawn was meant to be controlled, yet the King is meant to be the most important piece of the game. The chess board he stands on — if the time comes, he shall do all the can to win the game.

A piece of the game — from king to pawn, the players of Celestia could not control it's movements. One second they could have made a good sacrifice, the next, they would have lost the game.

The divine must choose, whether to take the risk or allow him to do as he pleases. But taking the risk of sacrificing him could only mean that they had lost. If Astaroth died, then their puppet would be freed from their strings

— And Asmoday will take on Astaroth's place. Continuing what he had not finished, and destroy what had killed her dear brother.

This was how Astaroth was describe.

The most complex piece of the chess board known as Teyvat.

A king who fell, and became the most unpredictable pawn of the game.

His thousand years of sleep was, somewhat intentional―but he did not fall to sleep like he wanted to.

Astaroth could still faintly remember his encounter before his slumber.

The eyes of his sister, dull and lifeless as she sent her astral cubes at him, trying to rip him to pieces. He barely dodged, countering her with the same cube shaped beings, ravaging an Area of Teyvat, now forgotten by gods and mortals.

Astaroth remembers how his sister looked at him with an emotionless face, while she continued to attack him. He watched at she trapped him in a cube, sliced it into pieces and sending beams of light towards it.

In the end, he surrendered, fearing that he may injure his twin...

He was imprisoned in his domain, his entire body and mind chained by the Sustainer of heavenly principles power.

Forced into a coma, mind and body did not feel time the same. He was conscious but could not move. His memories slowly turned hazy, until he had forgotten how he killed Barbatos the first time he woke up. To think, merely the pure rage could return such memories to him.
