Scaramouche narrowed his eyes at the fox envoy, a pitying grin upon her face as she crossed her arms over her chest, and continued to stick her gaze to him. A gaze filled with contempt and worry, genuine concern that clouded her purple optics.

"Yae Miko."

"Kunikuzushi"

―And he wanted to spit on the floor for that name. The wretched meaning; Destroyer. How could he have been named such a thing? It was ironic.

He was named as Destroyer, yet when he was so much younger, he was no such thing. Scaramouche― Kunikuzushi was naïve, gentle, and kind. The complete opposite of destruction, and the puppet with the most humanity.

He was Kunikuzushi, but he was no such destroyer. Scaramouche on the other hand, was the embodiment of the name he had been given. A monster that had blood staining his hands, and a thirst for blood as strong as his―Kunikuzushi's desire for acceptance.

He turned his gaze to the unconscious traveler, narrowing his eyes at the still frantic Paimon. He wondered why the little faerie was still awake, before turning his tongue to Guuji Yae, eerily quiet as she stared at him. With a snap of her fingers, the fairy dropped unconscious.

"It has been a while... How have you been?" She asked, a gentle tone upon her voice that he couldn't help the crack on his heart. He admitted that he didn't deserve it from her of all people.

Yae Miko had been kind to him in his early stages of life. When he was still on the care of Raiden Ei, Miko had always been there to assure him. To encourage his humanity and emotion.

She smiled, taking a step forward, only for him to take a step back. His breath hitched as he saw the flash of hurt come across her face, gulping down his hesitance. He steeled himself, forcing his cold sociopathic mask.

This woman... She was manipulative, dishonest, and someone who revelled in others suffering. She was kind to him― for her own benefit. She cared for him to curry his trust. And the day Raiden Ei decided to abandon him, this woman had watched in silence with such cold eyes.

Cold, cruel, and a liar. That was the last thought he had about Yae Miko when he was thrown away centuries ago.

And thus he turned into the person who abandoned him.

Cold, cruel, and a liar. Scaramouche had mirrored Raiden Ei's appearance, and mirroed Yae Miko's cunning personality. He Despised himself for that, but he had survived because of those aspects.

"What the hell are you doing here?" He demanded, pursing his lips as he glared darkly at her. She did not even falter, and that made his nonexistent heart to crack. He knew that her smile was fake.

Yae Miko sighed, "Spare him." She pleaded, her eyes closed as she felt that frantic electricity coursing through the air. She could feel his subtle emotions. "You have no need for him, neither do I expect you to follow the fatui's orders. I know what you want."

Scaramouche froze, clenching his fist as he felt lightning crackle in the air. "No you don't! Even if you do, you certainly don't have it." He snapped, "All I needed is nowhere to be found! All I want... All I need is a heart Miko."

His voice cracked, clearly faltering. Yae Miko gave him a sorrowful stare, and he could not meet her eyes. It hurt him, and he dared not to give himself even more pain. It was going to be useless, and he hated it so much.

"I know what you want, and I have it... But―"

"There is always a but! What do I have to do?! Return to Ei? Become the Shogun's kagemusha? Tie myself down to those who abandoned me?!" Outraged, he screamed as fought the tears threatening to form in his eyes.
