Yeji sipped her fruit punch as she just spaces out, looking at the pool of people crowding in the dance floor.
She sighed, putting her red plastic glass down on the table, crossing her hands on her chess. Still looking at the people dancing.
She's practically alone since her partner ditched her as well as her friends. I should've not come here in the first place, she thought. If she would've not come here, she would be at home, in her room, laying on her bed while watching her favorite shows on Netflix while cuddling with her soft blanket. But her best friend Lia forced her to come here and now the girl is nowhere to be found.
Suddenly she felt a tap on her right shoulder making her flinched. She look to her right, there she saw a boy with het black hair, simply smiling at her.
"Hi Yeji," It was Yeonjun, she knew him as he was her partner for a project a few months ago.
"Oh... Yeonjun? Hi?" She awkwardly waved at him as he waved back as well. Proceeding to sat next to her.
They are not that close. After that project they basically lost contact and just continue as strangers. I mean before the project they talked, but only for school stuff.
Silence engulfed them both. Again as there's only te chatter of the people around them and the loud music. Welp, this is awkward. She sighed.
"You're alone?" Yeonjun finally got the chance to speak up.
"Well I guess? My partner basically ditched me and my best friend is probably there at the dance floor with people that I barely know," She faced him. She noticed that he looks good with his black suit. I mean he's Choi Yeonjun after all. "You?" She asked back.
Yeonjun pursed his lips, "Well same as you? I don't have a partner but Soobin decided to ditch me."
"I guess we're in the same situation," they both chucked. And then they are back to silence. But somehow, this is more comfortable, well a little bit.
"Alright teenagers, this will be sadly the last song. I hope you all bring your partners as this will be a slow song. I hope you enjoy this unforgettable night," the DJ spoken through the mic and a slow song starts to play. Everyone was slowly swaying their body hands with each of their partners.
"This is getting boring," Yeonjun spoke. Turning his head at her.
"Honestly speaking yeah, if I would've not come to this shitty prom, I would probably be in my room, away from this loud place," she scoffed silently.
"You wanna ditch this place?" Yeji widen her eyes. But the idea of ditching this place is not bad. I mean this will end in like 10 more minutes.
Yeonjun patiently waited for her answer until she nodded her head and stood up. Fixing her things and dusted off her navy blue dress.
They exited the place and went to Yeonjun's gray car. And drove somewhere that she doesn't know. She just followed Yeonjun right now.
No one basically talked during the whole ride. Just music from the radio and the car heater.
Yeonjun finally parked his car and taking off his seatbelt as Yeji followed him getting out of the car.
She was greeted by a small park in the middle of the city. There are not lot of people, maybe only some one or two couple walking around.
The park was simple. With streetlight brighten up the place and tress decorating the place. And a big fountain right in the middle.
"Woah...", she stared in awe while Yeonjun just silently giggling at her reaction. Cute.
"Come on lets have some fun," he pulled her wrist and guide her to the park.
They basically laughed the whole night. Having fun. They ran around like children, they threw coins in the fountain and make a wish, and in Yeji's opinion, this is one of her best times of her life. People around may thought their s couple, but in reality they are just acquaintances or maybe friends that is not close yet.
They're now sitting down on the rim around the fountain under the shining moonlight. (A/N: You know those like flat things that was around the fountain where you can sit on. Yeah idk how to explain but maybe you can imagine it)
"You have fun?" Yeonjun asked.
"Yeah I do, thanks. But I have a question, why do you want to be close with me. Well honestly we only worked on that project few months ago," Yeonjun was taken aback with her question honestly. But I mean he do actually have a reason on why he wanted to be close with her.
"Well... just because... I wanted to?" he explains, but more came as a question. "I mean you were alone, I was alone so why not approach you,".
Yeji just nodded her head. Silence. Dang, how many times have we been silence, at least its comfortable right?.
"Thanks," Yeji looked at him. "Thanks for bringing me here. It was fun, if I would be stuck there I would die out of boredom," she laughed.
"No problem... and it was nice seeing you smile, you looked happy," Yeonjun smiled. "So friends?" He gave his hand, offering for a handshake.
"Friends," she accepts his handshake with a small smile.
And this is the beginning of a blossoming friendship...
