Sorry for the shorter chapter today. I was really busy because I have this music thing tomorrow. I also go to extreme extents to hide the fact that I write fics during school. Thanks for reading! xoxo
I clutched my key and slipped it into the hole, gently twisting it. The door creaked open, darkness spilling out into the corridor of apartment buildings. I flicked on the light and walked in. Our medium sized apartment had two bedrooms, a small kitchen, two bathrooms, and a living room. I lived here for half of life and I liked it. I always had a love for Boston since I was a little girl.
Although, when high school came around life started to slow down. It turned into a routine instead of living. Calum and Michael made it just bearable enough but I wanted something more.
I sighed just thinking about a life of adventure and shook it away. “Dad?” I asked. No one responded so I walked into the kitchen to grab some ice cream. Ice cream is my boyfriend. Ice cream is my only bae.
Sitting on the kitchen counter, I flicked on the T.V. but there was nothing good on so I just put on some shitty reality show about rich people.
I considered inviting over Michael because he only lived about a block away but I didn’t feel like socializing. It was way too much work sometimes. I opened the door to my room and laid in my bed and thought about my day. By my day, I actually mean I thought about Luke. I felt myself drifting off into a senseless sleep.

“Wake up August!” I heard Michael sing. I groaned and turned over. I am not and never will be a morning person. “Screw you.” I muttered into my pillow. “It’s 6 AM and I want to get breakfast!” he whined, “There’ll be waffles.” Damn it, he knew how much I loved waffles. “I’m up!” I moaned sitting up in my crumpled heap of blankets and various pillows. “Good because I think Calum ate all your cookies.” he chuckled.
I shot up from the bed and sprinted towards the kitchen. I found Calum eating my cookies on the couch while flicking through T.V. channels. “Calluuummm, why did you eat all my cookies?” I whined. He always stole all my food. “I see food and I eat it.” he said nonchalantly. “Spongebob is on!” He squealed and glued his eyes to the screen. Michael walked in after me and sat down with Calum. “You should get ready, you look like crap.” Michael observed, glancing at my bedhead and wrinkled clothes. “Gee thanks, that’s what every girl loves to hear when she gets up.” I responded sarcastically. He laughed and shooed me away with his hands.
I brushed my teeth and looked at my reflection in the mirror. My dark hair was long and tangled. I frowned at myself, I was so plain. Brown eyes, dark hair, average height, average weight, average personality. I sighed. I didn’t have time for self-pity right now, the waffles are waiting for me. I brushed my teeth and moisturized. I never really wore make up that often. I don’t have anything against girl who do wear make up, I just don’t wear it.
I threw on a white tank top, long grey cardigan, and leggings. After slipping on my silver pendant and a couple of bracelets, I was ready to go. I walked out to meet Calum and Michael. “Great, you look presentable, Let’s roll.” Michael said as he literally rolled off the coach. I laughed as Calum started rolling with him. “You guys are such idiots” I giggled shaking my head. We walked down to the breakfast diner on the corner. It was a small 1960’s style diner that was currently decorated for Easter which is in a month. “Table for three with one kids menu for my buddy over here.” Michael said to the old hostess pointing to Calum. “Huh?” Calum said confused. “Nothing buddy.” Michael said slinging his arm around Calum.
The hostess sighed and muttered something about how stupid teenagers are. We were led to a booth, I sat with Calum and Michael sat across from the two of us. A waiter approached us and whipped out a pad and pen. “Can I get you guys something to drink?” he asked smiling. He was way too chipper for someone who has to work at 6 AM. Although, his overly enthusiastic attitude was kind of refreshing compared to the melancholy hostess.
“I’ll have a coke.” I said. “You can’t have coke at 6 AM.” Michael argued. “I’m a big girl, I can do what I want!” I whined giggling a little. “That is a crime against humanity,” Calum muttered, “I’ll have a milkshake.” Calum chirped. Michael shook his head at us. “You guys are insane, why did I even invite you here?” he said. Michael requested orange juice because he’s lame. “I’ll be right back.” the waiter smiled.
“I talked to that Luke kid yesterday.” Calum announced casually. I sat up straighter and turned to face Calum. “How did that go?” I tried to play it off casually but failed miserably. “He seemed pretty cool. I like his taste in music.” he said. “Yeah, I saw his Nirvana shirt.” Michael said shaking salt onto the table. “We got partnered up in gym.” Calum explained. I smirked a little thinking about PE. We all hated PE, like really really hated PE. Exercise is an unholy thing.
“He was in my practice room yesterday.” I said looking up, “We played together.” Michael took a break from salting the table to glance at. “What does he play?” he said raising an eyebrow. “Guitar. And he sings.” I informed. They nodded in approval.
The waiter came with our drinks and took our orders. I got waffles topped with strawberries, bananas, and whipped cream and hashbrowns. Calum ordered chocolate chip pancakes and Michael ordered a breakfast platter with eggs, bacon, french toast, and fruit. “He talked about you.” Calum said. “Who?” I questioned in confusion. “Luke. He talked about you.” Calum said grinning a little. I couldn't help but smile and feel butterflies in my stomach. That stupid guitar boy is driving me crazy.
