Chapter Twenty

I dialed my father's number under Nina's confusing look. I put my phone on loud speaker and waited for him to answer the call. Once he did, he sounded happy. "Hello, daughter!" he answered.

"Hey dad" I greeted and smiled at my dad's cheery voice. Even if sometime I felt rejected by my parents, they could be cool sometime.

"Are you coming to visit us or not?" he asked and I rolled my eyes.

"Can we talk about that later?" I asked.

"What do you wanna talk about?" he asked now all cheerfulness gone.

"You are supporting cancerous persons, right?" I asked. Yeah my parents were generous persons when it concerns on helping others.

"Yeah, why?" he asked.

"I have a friend whose mother has cancer and they cannot afford the treatment" I started. "Would you help?" I asked.

"Can I meet her first?" he asked and I looked at Nina who nodded.

"Yes" I replied.

"Okay, I'll be coming tomorrow with your mother" he said. "Send me the address of the hospital" he said in all business style voice.

"Okay" I said. "Thank you dad" I thanked him.

"Anything for you princess" he said and ended the call. I smiled and looked at Nina.

"All done!" I exclaimed happily. "Now you can say good bye to Brittany" I said. I noticed tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Oh, Kimberly" she said with gratitude. "You're an angel!" she said crying. "I don't know how to thank you" I hugged her and wiped her tears.

"Knowing that you and Aaron are happy is enough" I told her. "Well, I need to go" I told her. "I'll be coming tomorrow" I told her.

"Thank you" she said again and i smiled. I waved and walked out of the room. I ran to my car and drove back to Chase's. I honked and watched as Grace and Tommy walked out. Damn, I didn't visit Emma. I walked out and noticed Aaron's car outside. He must be inside then. "Go and wait for me in the car" I told Grace as I walked pass them.

"Okay" she replied taking Tommy's hand and walked to my car. I walked in the house to see Chase shirtless.

"Put on a shirt" I said and watched as Aaron walked in the living room. Chase chuckled and put on his shirt. "Where's Emma's room?" I asked and Aaron motioned me to follow him.

"Where did you go?" he asked suddenly. We stopped in front of a door and he opened it slowly. Emma was sleeping. I didn't want to disturb her so I closed the door again.

"What?" I asked trying to ignore his question.

"Where were you?" He asked. "When I came back, You weren't here" he said.

"I had to meet someone" I simply said and made my way out.

"Who?" be questioned.

"Nick" I lied. I walked to my car without looking at his face.

When I reached home, I watched as Tommy ran in the house and Grace was looking at me curiously when we got out of the car. "Where were you?" she asked and I gave her a smile. Just as I was about to reply, she stopped me. "Don't tell me you were with Nick cause I know you weren't" she said as we walked into the house. When I walked into my room, she did the same and closed the door behind her.

"If I tell you, you won't get mad, right?" I asked. I was a bit scared if her reaction to tell you the truth. She shook her head and I gulped. "I followed Aaron" I told her and her eyes widened. She glared at me.

"Tell me you're kidding" she pleaded and I shook my head.

"No, And I found out that his mother got cancer" I said.

"I already know that" she sighed. "I thought you already knew"

"I didn't" I said.

"Well, don't ever tell Aaron that you followed him, he'll be pissed off" she stated. Did she know about Brittany? I simply nodded and watched her walked out of my room. I laid in my bed and watched the white ceiling. I couldn't stop thinking about Nina and Aaron. How could Brittany stand so low? Was she that heartless? I shook my head and pulled my laptop on my lap. I decided to chat with my friends and uploaded some pictures.

"Kim!" I heard uncle Max called me. I turned my head to the door, waiting for him to enter. As usual, he knocked.

"Enter" I said and he did.

"Your parents are coning tomorrow" he informed and I nodded.

"I already know" I told him. "In fact, they're coming to look for patients to support financially" I told him and he smiled.

"Listen," he said with a sigh and walked to my bed. He sat next to me and gave me a weak smile. "I think they want you back home" he told me and I shrugged.

"But I don't want to go" I told him. "Unless you want me to" I quickly added as my eyes widened.

"No, no no" he quickly said shaking his head. "It's not what I meant" he said with a smile. "I just want you to talk to them" he said taking my hand in his. "Respect them" he told me. "No matter how they are, they are your parents and let me tell you that they care and love you a lot" he added and kissed my forehead. "I love you Kimmy, you're like my daughter" he said.

"I love you too uncle Max" I said and hugged him. "I know they care but sometimes, I feel like I'm a burden to them" I admitted and he shook his head.

"Oh Kim" he said. "You're wrong" he said. "they always want what's best for you" he told me. "So tomorrow, promise me you'll talk to them" he said and I nodded.

"I promise" I said and he stood up.

"Now, I'm hungry and Lucy sent me to call you for dinner" he said rubbing his belly. I chuckled and followed him to the dining room. I smiled when I think them. They're the best family ever. As we sat and had dinner, I thought of my parents again. Maybe I've been too hard with them. Maybe I should go visit them
