"Im sorry, but there is not much we can do." The doctor explained to Vincent. He was in a hospital waiting room, having the worst outcome told to him. The news devastated Vincent. Hours of work part-time as a waiter working long hours dealing with complex people making him choose specific words to earn any tip, hours of the school ensuring he was an average student at best and not fail in any of his classes, and tending to his mother when he had any time. To only have her pass on, albeit lasting long enough to see him finish high school. The situation made him wonder: "How the hell do I go about my life?"
Back at present, the hunter is on his knees, bleeding from his side. The health bar only he could see showing there was nothing left but an orange gauge telling him he had a chance to recover. Yet, the blood vial he held when launching his final attack on the beast already utilized, leading to the orange gauge existing in the first place, his blow to the beast was able to kill it. However, the beast proved to have its strength unchanged even near death, its small arm piercing his side, making a giant gash spilling his warm blood. "Was his magic still in effect?" He pondered, the world blurring as the gauge continued to shrink. "My first death in this world, would death be permanent this time around? Or would it just thrust me back, having a long trek back to this point?"
As these thoughts occurred, he felt another warm liquid landing on his head, enveloping his body warming him. The bar turns red, stopping the orange gauge from completely depleting, stopping by a hair's length closing the wounds. He looked up, greeted by a black mass hanging above his head. As his vision cleared, the object revealed itself to be the clawed hand of the beast he had killed. An index finger is sticking out with small amounts of blood dripping from the tip of its finger, landing on his face. The giant arm lodged in on the roof of a home. Turning his head despite his body's protest, he sees the beast's body leaning on other homes dead; it looks like it was attempting to swing its large arm back at the hunter after taking a devastating blow to ensure he's dead. Still, its aim was off instead hitting above its target, accidentally saving the hunter's life.
Astonished by his fortune, the hunter stayed still for a few seconds, taking in the situation he was in before slowly getting up, leaning on his blade to keep himself up. A second later, the blade morphed into a cane, making it a proper object to lean on. He began his hike toward the body of the beast, taking a few minutes as he stumbled in between a few steps. After reaching towered his destination, he searched through the matted fur of the beast until he found what he was looking for: a necklace with a red crystal. Placing the item into the small pack around his waist, he then took out the knife he had used on his leg and made an incision on its chest. Taking out a small bottle he had used previously to heal himself, he pops the top off and places it near the incision collecting the streaming blood. After filling it up, he injects a needle with the bottle of new blood into his right leg. The hunter began to feel better as he felt more invigorated, and the red bar raised itself exponentially. Now being able to stand on his own, he began to walk. After a few feet of walking, he noticed a sign in front of a house, the letters looking foreign and unfamiliar, yet he could somehow read it, it said: Village Head. He entered the home. The inside was a mess of clothes, furniture, and decorations littering the floor. He looked around, finding no one home but found in one of the rooms a bag full of supplies and clothing with other items packed into it. He placed his hand on it, causing it to be enveloped by the strange liquid coming from the hunter and shrink into nothing as the liquid crawled back into him. Walking out, he found a bag and grabbed it, taking it with him, and began to head back toward the girl but first, he had to make a pit stop toward the place where he first saw her and killed those scourge beasts.
