Chapter 4 ~ First class

"Must've brought back memories, seeing a Burned One again after so long" Saul said

"Too many" Farah replied "The Black Woods Massacre. Our excursion to Maravet Falls."

"Feels like a lifetime ago."

"Didn't you keep a kill count?" Farah asked

"Thirteen personally"

Farah stopped and looked at Saul

"What? As in my sword in it's flesh. Of course i had help i could never take one down entirely on my own, but apparently you still can."

"I got lucky. It didn't see me coming"

"How much Zanbaq did you give it?" Saul asked

"Enough. It should be out cold" Farah said as they both walked through the barrier

The door opened to the barn and Saul and Farah walk in.

"What do you expect to discover when you're inside its mind?" Saul asked

"Answers. I'll sleep better knowing it's a lone wolf"

"And if it's not? If there are more"

Farah looked at Saul and walked towards the Burned One. She kneeled down in front held her hand out in front of it and began to get in its mind.

"Just be careful, honey" Saul said

Suddenly the Burned One jumped at Farah and she fell back into Saul's arms.

Farah and Saul walked back through the barrier.

They stopped and Saul looked at Farah.

"What did you see?"

"It was flashes the Shepherd, Destiny, Bloom then it just was so quick"

Farah looked at Saul and began to tear up he pulled her into his chest

She wrapped her arms around him. Saul put his hand on Farah's head and started to calm her down.

"Listen Farah it will be okay the barrier it will keep everyone safe while we sort it."

"I know but i'm worried everything we worked for everything that happened it's now coming back to haunt us"

"I know Farah i know but it will be okay we will take care of Destiny, Sky and Bloom."

"What if they come for her. For Destiny what do we do we can't jus-"

"Farah Farah Farah listen it will be okay i promise no one is leaving we are going to fix this and go back to normal or how it was before. Having two powerful daughters and raising a strong boy who's father died is definitely the opposite of normal"

Saul wiped a tear from Farah's face and smiled. "You okay. Do you want to head back?"

Farah nodded and the two hand in hand walked back to the school.

Destiny sat in the sofa flipping through the book her mum told her to read ready for class over the summer holidays - which she obviously left until now.
