I was awoken by a snap of a twig from outside the cabin window. I immediately thought it was someone coming to find me so I quickly got to my feet and went beside one of the windows.

With a careful hand, I gently pushed away the thin curtain. The moonlight lit up the ground, making it easier to scan the grass and stone path ahead for any sign of life. When I caught the culprit- a small fawn, a relieved sigh escaped my lips as I sank to the ground.

Every small thing is a danger now. Every sound, every person, everything. Except her. I looked around the room for Bunbunn until I caught her sleeping in a rocking chair.

A small smile played on my face as I watched her calm figure sleep. It surprised me how she managed to look so peaceful even with the amount of pain and darkness that the world was giving us in these current times.

Before long, melancholy thoughts surrounded me in a hurry, like it'd been a little too long of happiness. The small smile faded and I hugged my knees up to my chest, leaving my arms to dangle atop of them.

Minutes seemed to pass with me sitting there, having an internal war with my own thoughts.

How long had it been? How long had this war gone on, how many people have died so far from me being too caught up in the moment to pay attention to the people around me.

I'd even put her into this mess. My love, my joy, she was too pure to get involved in my family affairs, and here was me, stupid enough to allow her to get kidnapped. I never even thought how it would affect her, how she was dealing with this right now. She could be hurting inside and I wouldn't even know..

Get your thoughts together Alec. I scolded myself. It won't be long until things go back to normal. Times will return to those when me and her laughed together in the fields of colorful flowers surrounding the castle. Those nights where we sat for hours in front of the fireplace, reminiscing over the days we spent together.

It won't be long at all until I see her smile that beautiful smile that seemed to lighten up anyone's mood. I turned to look at her once again, taking in a small breath, I dug my nails into my hand- once again getting caught in the negative thoughts. Guilt was one of many emotions that was the strongest.

"I love you.. We'll go home soon, and there you'll be able to smile with no worries. I'll protect you better than I had before. This won't happen again, I swear. I don't want anything to tarnish your beautiful soul. I'll do better for you.." a single tear rolled down my cheek, and I moved my hand to rub it away.

Suddenly, loud footsteps, and yelling voices broke my concentration, causing me to jump up in an alarmed state. "Bunbunn, wake up" I whispered yelled to her, cautious enough so the intruders outside couldn't hear.

"W-what?" They said quietly, rubbing the tiredness out of her eyes. "I think there's a search party outside, we need to go." I answered her question, trying my hardest to keep my composure, an attempt to not have her worry.

After my sentence, they got up quickly, the previous tiredness expressed completely disappeared and now a stern, yet calm expression overtook her.

"What time is it?" Looking at the clock, it read 1:27am. "We need to hurry if we want to get away safely." I changed the topic.

"I can't."

Now I was shocked, "What-?" My arms stayed at my sides, and I just stared at her. Bunbunn looked to the side, "I have to stay here, you go."
