How was I supposed to catch that?!
Without wasting a second, I shot upwards into the sky until I could almost see all of Skyworld. From here, I can see the chariot basically anywhere.
I eyed it for a moment before I finally got somewhat of an idea about its flying pattern. With hesitation, I made my way in the opposite direction, hoping I was right about it's path.
When the moment finally came, I dove with my wings pressed to my sides as tightly as I could. My ears felt like they were going to explode and it was nearly impossible to see but I just reached out my hands, hoping to grab something. Im praying I timed this right.
Only a few moments passed before my hand snagged something. I didn't recognize the feeling but I definitely recognized the severe whiplash I got immediately gripping whatever was in my hand.
About to fly off, I grabbed the rope like thing with both hands as it sent little shocks up my arms. I was going almost too fast for me to open my eyes again, "I got it!" I shouted when I saw the lightning chariot in my grasp.
Struggling to get it under control, my footing wasn't the best and I could feel myself slipping backwards. I was all over the place before yanking back the reins hard enough to get it to slowdown just enough for me to take control and steady myself.
I looked back to the temple and saw Pit knock Palutena down. She stumbled before Pit ran up to her. She must be free! The thought made me emotional and if tears weren't already streaming out of my eyes from the wind they were now.
I steered the chariot towards the temple but nearly flinched as a large scorpion like creature jumped out of no where and lunged at Palutena, who was still recovering on the ground. Before I could react it plunged its stinger right through her chest.
"Palutena!" I screamed in shock as the monster pulled and orb of light out of her chest and jumped into a chaotic vortex; seemingly appearing out of no where. Pit ran after it but the vortex closed too small for him to get through and he was knocked back.
"Out of the way! Coming through!" I shouted and without a thought, I crashed right into it at full speed. Thankfully the vortex opened- more like shattered but I was thrown out of the chariot.
I hit the ground pretty hard and my ears were ringing like there would be no tomorrow. Dazed and confused, it took me a second to fully regain my sight as everything was blurry.
"We have to go help Palutena NOW!" I stammered with urgency, forcing my self up with shaking legs from the impact. It wasn't long though before my legs gave out and I yelped in surprise.
"(Y/N)!" I heard two voices shout before I was swooped up by a pair of arms. I saw a flurry of black feathers before seeing two crimson read eyes looking down at me. I laughed in embarrassment.
"You're a speed demon you know that? I'm ok." I reassured smiling but the only response I got was a frown, "Why are you out here? You need to rest!" Dark Pit bossed.
"Because I don't need rest. I'm fine." I crossed my arms still smiling trying to lift the mood, "You are not fine. I can't let you come out to battle when you're struggling to even stand up!" He glowered at me which- kind of hurt. He never really gave me this look before.
"That's just because I hit that vortex at godly speeds. No biggie!" I motioned to the giant crack in the sky that was painted with a swirl of reds, oranges, and black, "Put me down." I demanded sternly while looking away.
"No. Not until Viridi takes us back." He grumbled.
"We need to fix your gear Pit. This opening shouldn't close so I'll bring you back as soon as you rest up." I heard her say, "Nice job with the lightning chariot (Y/n)."
