"Yeah, long ride," I say with a chuckle, shaking my head in anticipation of the journey ahead.
Vusi opens his door and suggests, "Can you drive first, bruh? We'll take turns till we arrive."
I give him a puzzled look, "Huh?" He explains, "Nigga your birthday is tomorrow, so today you're still a normal person like the rest of us. I drove here, so you can drive till we switch." He flashes a cheeky grin as he gets out and comes around to open my door.
I hesitate for a moment, then climb out and take the driver's seat. As I wait for the car to warm up, I say, "I'm literally going to drive till the nearest garage, then someone else is taking over. I'm not driving all day, fam" They all burst out laughing.
I connect my phone to the Bluetooth, and since the driver gets to choose the playlist, I play "Player's Prayer" by Lloyd. The smooth beats fill the car as I reverse out of the driveway, open the gate, wait for it to close, and then drive off.
"Grab me a drink from that bag, Vusi," I say, pointing to my duffel bag by his feet.
He gives me a beer and takes one out for everyone and himself. He digs in, and I look at what he's doing. "Vusi, what are you looking for?" I ask.
"You didn't get anything for my hun?" He asks, and I let out a short laugh. "Did you by any chance tell me she'll be riding with us?" I ask, but he stays quiet.
"So don't ask me shit," I say. "There's a centre close by. I'll just get in the liquor store." I say, and he closes my bag and sits back.
Ahhh, out here asking me shit. "Thou shall not run these streets, thou shall not hit these clubs." Ty sings, well, attempts. He can't sing for shit.
"Every night of the week, lookin' for some groupie love. Thou shall respect your heart, thou shall not play you heart, but I did, I was wrong, and I'm hating it."
"Cause now I'm calling your cellphone over and over, my high is gone but I don't wanna be sober. I'm feeling sick and I ain't got the flu."
We all sing, we'll all of us besides Asanda. "Girl I'm missing you. Girl I'm on my knees. I promise I'll be good and I will never do it again."
"I'm on my knees, I can't get over you and all I need is one more chance." We sing that part out loud. Like literally start screaming the fuck off.
"I was just playing with them girls, I was gone get right back, I was trippin' your love is where it's at. I'm on my knees, lord please show me some love, and answer this player's prayer."
I get a parking when we arrive at the centre, then I switch the car off. I look back at Asanda. "What do you want?" I ask.
Then she looks up at me from her phone. Don't even know why Vusi brought this hun. She's shit anti-social for no fucken reason.
Actually, maybe cause of me, but still. Try to be friendly with people.
"Let me go with you." She says, then I shrug my shoulders. I get out of the car, then she gets out right after. The walk to the liquor store is silent. I'm not complaining though, if she doesn't speak to me, I can pull some huns tonight.
I let her get in first, then she goes to the fridge. She looks at me, then I look at her questionably. "Can you get in there. It's cold." She says, then I laugh. This girl is a legend hey. Now she wants me to get in there, get her alcohol, and pay for that shit. Nah, wow, she takes the cup.
"What do you want?" I ask. "Brutal fruit." She says, then I get in the fridge. I grab a 24 pack of brutal fruit, cause we're gonna pass by Blue hills and fetch a few other huns that are our friends, and I just decide to also add another 24 pack of Corona for us, cause we drink the fuck off.
