There were two. One went "yip, yip." The other went "ruff, ruff."
Quickly, I ducked under the dogs legs. The dog wiped around and I ducked under his muzzle. His collar tag read Apollo. While the dog was distracted I seized the moment and flew up into the closest tree. I looked down, Max was facing a bigger dog. He ducked and dogged, unaware there the dog was forcing him farther and farther into a corner. He was trapped.
I flew as fast as I could, trying to help Max, but someone else got there first.
In a sudden streak of black and yellow I saw a new bee. Old and caveman like. He swung from a twig like Tarzan, and to make the moment last he did the weird Tarzan screaming thing. It sounded like, " Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,"
He had quite a lot if air in his lunges for an old guy.
The next thing he did surprised me. He pointed his stinger right at the dogs back and flew full speed ahead, keeping his gaze on Max the whole time.
Now I'm pretty sure that everyone knows when you sting someone you die. So, don't waste it on a dog.
Max seemed the most surprised of all, He stared for just a moment then started charging at the old man. He wasn't quick enough. The dog rammed his fury head into Maxs side And Max started falling, I could see he had a bent wing. I zoomed over and caught him just as the old bee yelled something. He says something like this, " Nobody messes with my son, not even a smelly, slobbery dog like you." With that said he jammed his stinger into the dogs back and started falling to the ground.
The dog retreated back to the way Max and I had come from.
"Dad," Max said. He was on the verge of tears. His bent wing didn't stop him as he scrambled over to the dying bee.
He had called the dude dad I think to myself.
I went over to join them. Max was crying.
"Dont go dad," he said
"Son, I have to, but always know I love you," his father replied. And with that his eyes rolled back and he was dead.
