"Urrgh." You groan. "This is impossible."
Remus, who is sitting beside you and quietly doing his homework, sighs. "No it isn't. Only difficult."
You roll your eyes. "Come on... 'Which of the following plants is least harmful; a) Hemlock b) Oleander or c) Athelas.' How am I supposed to know that by heart? I mean, they're just plants."
"Hemlock is a plant that grows from three to five feet tall and is found near water, waste areas, roadsides and cultivated fields. It is highly dangerous because it disrupts the central nervous system and stops the ability to breathe." Remus recites. "Oleander is a plant known for its beautiful flowers. It grows in warmer climate and its ingestion causes vomiting, diarrhea, erratic pulse, seizures, coma, and death. Even contact with the leaves or sap can irritate skin."
"How do you memorize that?" You ask, astonished.
"I pay attention in class." Remus shrugs. "Athelas, also known as Kingsfoil, is a small plant with white flowers that cures many wounds, and is especially effective with magical wounds which makes it a popular potion ingredient for healing draughts."
"So the answer is 'Athelas'." You turn back to your homework.
"Yes." Remus nods.
You jot down the answer. "Thanks. I'm not sure what I'd do without you."
"Fail, probably." Remus tried to hide his smile, and fails.
You smile back and go back to work.
