Venti's POV

"There once was a ship that took to sea,
The name of the ship was the Billy of Tea.
The winds blew up, her bow went down,
Oh blow my bully boys blow.."

Moments later Venti finished the song and bowed at the applause of the drunken men and women in front of him. "Thank you, thank you!" He called into the crowd.

He heard the door to the tavern chime open as more guests arrived, taking it as his opportunity to strum a nice melody. Venti's delicate fingers wove skillfully over his instrument, plucking the strings carefully to make a beautiful tune.

Over the music he heard a voice rise. A deep, curious voice, then hurried footsteps. Venti looked up, almost forgetting he was playing music for a tavern full of people when he saw a tall man. He was much taller than Venti, with dark hair that had strips of green. His amber eyes met Venti's own turquoise ones, and he grinned at the unknown man before returning to his music.

Xiao's POV

Who was that bard? Why won't my heart stop beating like a jackrabbit? It took Xiao a few moments before he could pull his gaze away from the short man a few feet in front of him. He was beautiful; pale skin, bright turquoise eyes that accompanied long eyelashes, two small braids of hair framing his face.

Xiao returned downstairs to Aether and his floating companion. The blonde stared at him, and Xiao shot him a glare. "Why are you staring at me?"

Suddenly, the traveler held the back of his hand to Xiao's forehead. "Are you feeling alright? You're red!"

He flinched at the contact and loosely grabbed his wrist. "Aether, I'm fine. J-just.. I'm fine." Paimon shot a skeptical look at Xiao before glancing up to the lofted balcony above. Little did Xiao know, Venti was watching the scene below unfold. "Hi, Venti!"

Xiao's eyes shot up and clashed with turquoise almost immediately. Venti was his name... what a pretty name... He stared at Xiao for a few moments before snapping his attention to the floating girl. "Hello, Paimon." He smiled softly at her, causing Xiao's heart to short circuit. Venti left the balcony and then appeared next to me, causing me to nearly jump out of my skin.

"Eheh, sorry for scaring you, sir." Venti apologized.

"I-I, uh.. it's alright." Xiao gave him a lopsided smile and he looked away from him, focusing his attention on Aether.

"I have a few things to take care of in Brightcrown Canyon near Stormterror's Lair," Xiao watched as Venti's bow appeared in his small hands. "There's a sighting of a ruin guard that I need to exterminate. Meet me there?" Venti smiled at Aether, who gave the bard a quick nod.

Xiao watched Venti leave, then felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to come face-to-face with Paimon. "Uhm.. Hello, Paimon." She smiled and moved away from him.

"Xiao, want to come with me to help Venti?" Xiao immediately nodded, trying not to seem too eager. "We must stop where I'm staying first, though. My gear isn't with me." Aether nodded and they left the tavern, heading to where Xiao was staying just above the Adventurer's Guild.
