She started screaming in her sleep. I tried to shake her and wake her up but there was no use. Then her dad came barging in and ran over to her, waking her up. I went over to the other side of the room and sat.
She woke up and her dad asked her if she was okay. She just nodded and he said "So who's Oliver?." Uh oh...shit..
"He's a friend of mine that passed away a while ago... I miss him" her dad wasn't buying it. "How did he die" he pressed. "I don't really know or care. He's gone and that's what's bothering me" she said quietly, making him scowl at her. He saw her wrist and so did I, this is where things got intense and I had to step in.
He grabbed her by the wrist and said "What the fuck is this?!" She said "Dad....it was a while ago I've stopped....I swear" he shoved her back and she hit her head. "Cut deeper. Your dead to us now anyway, all you are is a disappointment" she brought her knees close to her chest and covered her face. There was a loud crash and thud downstairs and he stopped shouting, he ran downstairs to see what happened. I muttered "Outta keep him away for a while...." I went over to her and sat next to her. "Don't listen to him...he doesn't know what he's talking about.." I stopped talking when she felt for me and started to try and hug me. I put my arms around her and started hugging her back as she cried...and cried.
"Oliver...I can't do this anymore....." She whispered and I muttered "Yes...you can do it and I'll help you. I'm not giving up on you Iris...and I'm going to find a way to live again. I promise".
I promise.
