Land of Nod

Snuggle under the blankie, baby mine,
and fall asleep to a Ballade,
even now Mother Moon does brightly shine,
so brightly, in the Ballade of the Land of Nod.

The rooster sleeps, the owl wakes
night has fell, and baby is yawning,
ready for sleep till morning breaks
upon the new day's dawning.

Mother Moon shines so bright
through the bedroom curtain
where sleepy baby rests at night
cuddling Zephyr, the toy unicorn.

And dreaming is the way
to the Land of Nod
where all can play
and sing Nod's Ballade.

Here story books read themselves aloud
and never, ever, have to stop at one,
and Baby and Zephyr ride a cloud
o'er fields and ponds for fun.

Lily Pad now is Baby's raft
and Baby and Zephyr float away
playing games while Baby laughs
as Robin Redbreast sings Nod's Ballade all the day.

Sun never is too bright or hot
and Rain makes rainbows and dew
Fairies and butterflies are easy to spot
and there are no cages in the zoo.

All too soon games must end
and Morning comes soft and rosy,
Owl dozes, Rooster crows again,
the Land of Nod in morning mist is hazy.

Robin Redbreast ceases to sing
the Ballade of the Land of Nod,
Day brings an end to dreaming
with the last notes of the Ballade.
