Early Warnings

It's been two years since that fateful day in the Heart of Rage. Now as a freelancer for hire, you're taking contracts wherever you can get them. Your current job has tasked you and your cypher, Owen Corley, with inspecting the early warning network that detects Shaper energy. It's the first line of defense for catching any sign that a dangerous Cataclysm might be forming in the region.

I stop flying and drop down, perfectly executing a ground-shattering landing at the coordinates, a snuggle of grabbit flee from sensing the danger. I stand and walk forward, checking the area out.

"I'm at the coordinates Owen"
"Impressive entrance as usual"
"Nice to be appreciated"
"Don't sell yourself short, mate. A cypher couldn't ask for a better partner"
"You could ask. But not many of us left"
"The relay is a short flight away"

I continue to look around, lush greenery has reclaimed these ancient ruins. I walk towards the ledge, looking down into the valley, I jump and activate my jets, flying over the land towards the first relay.

"Easy contract so far"
"Easy keeps you alive"
"Wouldn't call this living, inspecting sensors every month"
"Pays the bills"
"Not exactly the freelancer motto"
"Well, until the freelancers are back on their feet, we can enjoy all the gorgeous scenery Bastion has to offer"
"Flying around is even better"
"Now I'm jealous, sitting here in the fort"

I reach the first relay, not many of Bastion's creatures are around making it easy to walk up to it. I inspect it, waiting for Owen to tell me what it needs.

"There's the relay. Just needs a hard reset"

I fidle around with the relay, finding the button to reset it. I wait until it restarts.

"This should get the early warnings network back up. Good that did it. You'll need to manually check the sensors now. First one's nearby. Maybe grab some supplies before you go"

Looking around, I see a nearby supply chest. I open it and grab what I think I would need. Screw it I'm taking everything, I'm the only one who comes out here. I head off to the next location where the first sensor is. Instead of flying I decide to walk and take in this wonderful scenery. I pass by some grabbits near the ravine.

"Oh, hey, look - some grabbits. Doing whatever grabbits do"

A lone grabbit runs past, following behind the others that ran past before it. It looks so innocent, yet I just want to murder it. I run after it and kill it.

"You do know you probably just orphaned some baby grabbits there"
"I'm going into the ravine"

I do know, felt good too. I continue on to the first sensor. I jump down into the ravine and fly, doing a few spins along the way to fix my boredom.

"There's the first sensor. I need you to access it"

I fly down and land in the little cavelet, walking towards the sensor I see the green cypher circle project around it to collect the required readings.

"Stay close so I can get a reading on the Shaper energy. Hang on – I'm detecting movement. Looks like skorpions"

I remain near the edge of the circle, killing off the skorpions as they get near. I move back to the center and shoot at the remaining ones. I notice one of the skorpions running away, I dash after it and end its life.

"Sorry, you need to stay near the sensor so I can get a reading"

I return to the circle, the scan half complete. A few more skorpions arrive, as I finish them off more arrive.
