Shadow's POV

"Shadow!" I heard a yell from off in the distance, and at first I'd thought Sonic hadn't come alone, but he looked just about as confused as I was.

"Who is it, Sonic?" I asked, moving to lean out of the door so I could see who was coming. The footsteps were gradually getting louder, but Sonic didn't look afraid - but he didn't have his brave face on either, so it clearly wasn't an enemy of some kind. He just looked startled.

"It's, um..." Sonic shook his head suddenly, as if trying to clear it of all thought. "It's Silver! But I thought he went back to the future..."

My eyes widened and I leaned out of the doorway, almost in disbelief, but Sonic wasn't making it up. Running our way was a distraught looking Silver.

"Silver?" I called out to him. Sonic was right, after Solaris was defeated Silver was able to return to a more satisfying and happy future, and he shouldn't have been able to get back - but now here he was, running towards us like a mad man.

"Oh, it is you! And Sonic too! Thank god I finally found you," Silver panted, pulling a stop next to Sonic. He was out of breath or stressing, probably both judging my the speed and urgency of his breathing.

"What are you doing here, Silver?" Sonic asked, slightly gawking at the white hedgehog. "I thought you returned to the future?"

"I did," Silver sighed, his eyes fluttering between Sonic and I. "And now I'm back. Funny, huh?"

"What's up, Silver." I asked, crossing my arms angrily. I'd never liked the white hedgehog, as he was so gullible and stupid - he didn't have any pride, and yet his ego was too big to admit it. Foolish, at the least.

"There's been a disturbance in the future. I'm not sure why, but I think it has something to do with Solaris." Silver explained, suddenly becoming serious again.

"But we killed Solaris," Sonic reminded him, eyes narrowing in confusion. I was just as confused - I remember the moment vividly.

"That's what I thought," Silver shrugged, eyes casting to the ground as if embarrassed. "Trust me, Sonic, if you could see the future you would understand. Everything's so dark all of a sudden, and no one has any idea why."

"So Iblis hasn't been released from Blaze?" I asked, just to be sure Silver wasn't confused. He just looked upset at the mention of it.

"I haven't seen Blaze in over three years now. Besides, back when Iblis was around, it was evil, sure, but not dark. After all, Iblis is a flame."

"Well what about Mephilis?" Sonic chimed in, clearly just as untrustful as I. Iblis and Mephilis were contained, and although they were supposed to be safe they could potentially be released. However, Solaris was destroyed when we attacked him three years ago. At least that's what I remember.

"It could be," Silver mumbled, eyes skimming over to me, "but if I remember correctly, Mephilis likes to be in Shadow's, um... shadow. You haven't seem him, have you Shadow?"

"Not that I know of," I shook my head, suddenly feeling wary of my shadow. The idea that something so evil could spawn from there disgust me. "But if it's in the future, it's perfectly possible it happens later. I'll be watchful."

"It still doesn't explain how you're here Silver," Sonic pointed out, to which Silver grimaced slightly.

"If I knew, I'd tell you. It was all fine at first, everyone was happy and I was just hanging out... but then there was this blinding white light and I felt myself fall unconscious. When I woke up again, I was in the forest. It was pretty obvious I was back here." He explained, proving nothing helpful except an interesting bit of backstory, at a stretch.
