Chapter 13 : It won't last long, Shadow...

Sonic's POV

"Please..." I begged, arms outstretched towards the creature. "Don't do this! I-I'll do anything!"

"I don't want anything from you, Sonic the Hedgehog." It growled, suddenly jumping on top of me. "Other than your body."

"P-please..." I muttered, but I was well aware it was already far too late. I'd been caught (ironic as it was) and I wasn't getting out of this one.

As I woke up once more, I found myself unable to move, despite my desperate attempts. I wasn't entirely sure what was going on, either.

It was like being held my Dark, except I had no chance of escape.

"Ah, Sonic, good to finally have someone to talk to." A familiar voice interrupted my thoughts, and my mood immediately brightened.

"Dark! You're alive!" I cheered, despite the current situation. He sighed.

"I wouldn't celebrate so soon, Sonic. I don't think either of us can escape this guys mind." He reminded me of what was going on, but he couldn't dispel the tiny bit of happiness I felt for getting him back.

"What happened to you?" I asked, knowing it probably had something to do with the imposter who was now in control. "If you didn't die, then where did you go?"

"I'm not sure," Dark spoke, his voice slightly sad. "Some kind of girl, I think. It wasn't the guy in control, but she was definitely helping him. Told me to stay still, be quiet whilst... something happened to you."

"Yeah, well, I got attacked." I mumbled, remembering the battle I had with the dark creature. "And was, apparently defeated."

"Will you two SHUT UP?!" We were interrupted, and I diverted my attention back to my surroundings. I was faced was Shadow, who was protecting... Amy? I hadn't thought I'd see the day.

"Sonic's there?" Amy asked, shifting forward slightly, apparently glad I was still okay.

"And Dark, too, probably." Shadow mumbled, but I'm certain both I and the pink hedgehog heard him.

"... Dark?" Amy questioned him, but Shadow wasn't given a chance to answer.

"Enough of this!" I whipped my arms across my chest till it was pointing to my left. "It is useless whether you know or not! You shall be the first to be extinguished from this earth, Shadow the Hedgehog!"

"Heh," Shadow simply laughed, crossing his arms with a smirk on his face. "I thought you knew who I was? I won't let you hurt Sonic!"

I lunged forward suddenly, spinning into a ball that kept rotating as I attempted to ram myself into Shadow, but he dashed out of the way quickly taking Amy with him.

"Ha," I turned back to Shadow, who was giving Amy to Tails as to two flew out of harms way. "What are you going to do Shadow? You won't hurt your precious Sonic!"

"No, but I don't need to hurt Sonic to hurt you," Shadow growled, lunging forward to me, but I quickly dashed away.

"You could easily beat Sonic, but I won't be such a pushover!" I yelled, storming him. We kept going like that, each dodging the others attack easily.

I heard a yawn come from Dark, and almost laughed due to it. "This is boring, don't you think? Like, geez, pick it up a notch."

"Dark!" I stifled a laugh, trying to remain serious in the situation. "This is serious! We're not joking here!"

"Is it?" He sighed, and to be honest, I couldn't blame him. The fight was becoming unbearably repetitive. "It feels like playtime."

Suddenly I managed to land a hit, and it was forceful. Shadow fell on his back, seemingly motionless.

"Ha!" I fell to one knee, looking at the scrunched up face of my crush. "You're meant to be the ultimate life form?"

"Shadow!" Dark and I both cried out, even though we knew he couldn't hear us.

"If I hear another peep from you two, I'll kill you both!" The creature, Sonic.exe, yelled at us.

"You've only met half of me," Shadow suddenly opened his eyes, and they were filled with anger. "The human side. Now it's my pleasure to introduce the demon inside."

I looked down to see the golden bracelets he usually wore were gone, carelessly left next to his arms. His inhibitor rings...

"Oh Shadow..." I sighed, "please tell me you know what you're doing."

"Of course he knows what he's doing," Dark spoke, but there was an uncertainty in his voice. "He's Shadow."

"You don't sound so sure..."

"Shut up!"

Now without his inhibitor rings on, Shadow immediately launched himself upwards, not only a ball but a ball of fire, sending me, dark and Exe flying backwards. When we were stopped, it was by hitting a wall, and by that we were knocked unconscious.

Let me tell you, it's strange to see something in your own dreams you don't expect to be there. Not only was I joined by Dark, but the horrific creature that had taken over my body, whom I was referring to as exe.

"Why are you even here?" Dark yelled, attempting to punch exe, but the creature just kept dodging. I'd never known anything to beat Dark, he was pretty much unstoppable when angry. But apparently, this exe was strong.

"Because I am part of Sonic now!" He yelled, returning the punch that Dark easily avoided as he had done. "Like you! I couldn't leave if I wanted to!"

"You can! And you will!" Dark cried, raging to a limit that I'd never seen him at. I knew Dark was part of my mind, and was specifically meant to be anger, but I guess I'd never seen him this angry.

"Will you two just STOP?!" I yelled, grabbing the twos attention. They stopped and turned to me, both out of breath and both looking as if they were about to murder one another. "WE'RE ALL STUCK IN HERE, WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT! PUNCHING EACHOTHER IN HERE WILL DO NO GOOD! SO YOU SHOULD BOTH JUST CALM DOWN!"

The two looked at me, almost puzzled, but then suddenly exe wasn't facing me anymore. He was, in fact, knocked out on the ground by an uninvited black and red hedgehog.

"Shadow!" I cried out, rushing to hug the hedgehog. He hugged me back, surprisingly, though he still looked awkward about it. "How did you get in here?"

He laughed, as if he'd been doing it all his life. "I'm the ultimate life form, remember? I can do all sorts without those rings on - including appearing in one's mind. If you were awake, it'd be much like Dark is normally."

"You do know that knocking him out in here won't change anything, right?" Dark asked, pointing to exe whom, for all his darkness and evil, was sucking his thumb whilst rolled up in a ball.

"No," Shadow sighed, turning away. "But it will mean that whilst he's knocked out here, Sonic will have control of his own body again. Maybe we can figure out a way to send him back to where he came from whilst keeping Sonic safe."

"Um, that'd be great but Shadow I think you're forgetting one teeny tiny detail." Dark sassed, raising an eyebrow. "You only knocked him out. He isn't going to stay unconscious for long - and you don't really have much of a plan, do you?"

Shadow sighed and looked away. "I have an idea, but I don't think you're going to like it..."
